Lauren Silverman Settles Divorce After Simon Cowell Pregnancy Scandal
It's official: Lauren Silverman has the ex factor. The New York socialite settled her divorce from estranged husband Andrew Silverman in court on Wednesday, Aug. 14, putting an end to their more than 10 year union, sources confirm to Us Weekly.
"The matter has been resolved and the parties have moved on," Lauren's attorneys, Robert Cohen and Bernard Clair tell Us.
Andrew agreed in a statement, telling Us, "As I've said all along, my priority was resolving this quickly for the sake of our son. Lauren and I both love him very much and I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in our lives."
"They hate each other and it was in the works for a long time," a source tells Us. "Better to get it done now."
The former couple have one son together, 7-year-old Adam. According to TMZ, the Silvermans will continue to have joint custody over Adam as they move on with their respective lives.
When asked about the shocking pregnancy news at an X Factor TCA panel in Los Angeles just one day later, on Thursday, Aug. 1, Cowell was careful with his words.
"I would love to [talk], but I have to respect a lot of people's feelings right now," he told reporters. "There are a lot of things I will eventually clear up when the time is right, but I really have to be sensitive because there's a lot of people's feelings involved here."
Lauren is reportedly getting a little more than $2 million from the settlement, and will most likely stay in New York City in order to stay close to her son.
"I am committed to sorting things out with Andrew as amicably as possible to ensure the well-being of our son," she said in a statement released Aug. 1.
