Working for two! One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson broke his silence via Twitter on Thursday, July 16, after performing for the first time since Us Weekly confirmed this week that he’s expecting a baby with stylist friend Briana Jungwirth.
“Amazing show!” the pop star wrote to his nearly 20 million followers. “Thank you for the support!!”
Tomlinson made his first public appearance after the baby news on Wednesday, when he was photographed boarding a plane at LAX. Later that evening, he and his bandmates continued their On The Road Again world tour with a stop in Seattle, Wash.
The British pop sensation took to the stage in head-to-toe black, including skinny jeans, Chucks, and a ripped tank.
His performance and tweet comes two days after a source confirmed to Us that Tomlinson, 23, is expecting his first child with Jungwirth. Though the initial news was a surprise, the insider said Tomlinson has been embracing future fatherhood.
“Louis didn’t expect this, but he’s excited for it now,” the insider told Us. “He’s become very close friends with Briana this year and now they are looking forward to being parents. He’s definitely going to be there and be a great dad for their baby.”
After Us confirmed Tomlinson’s paternity news, Directioners were quick to deny his impending fatherhood. The Internet, meanwhile, hilariously responded with memes of Harry Styles and more.
While he will share parenting duties with Jungwirth, Tomlinson is still very much single. “They aren’t together but are both happy about having a child,” the source told Us. “They aren’t a couple and the pregnancy is in the very new [stages]. They just found out.”
