“She said he cheated,” he told Us in an interview on Sunday, July 24. “I don’t think she would say that if it wasn’t true. She had never accused him before, you know?”

As Us Weekly reported exclusively in April, the Mean Girls star, 30, got engaged to the Russian millionaire after dating for eight months. Michael told Us back then that he hadn’t seen Lindsay “this happy in a very, very long time.”

But on Saturday night, she admitted that the couple were having trouble, first posting a Snapchat saying that the 23-year-old was “really angry” with her and asking him to come home, and then posting a number of Instagram posts, which she later deleted, accusing him of cheating with a woman who she described as a “Russian hooker.”

The troubled star also posted a tweet shortly afterwards in which she shared a photo of herself with a fake baby bump from her 2009 film Labor Pains, and captioned it, “I am pregnant.”

Michael told Us on Sunday that Lindsay, who is currently in London, has been “texting me back and forth that she’s OK but [Tarabasov is] off the radar, and he has been off the radar since this happened.”

When asked about her tweet claiming that she is expecting a baby, Michael replied, “All I know is what she said.”

“Things happen,” he added. “I don’t know what their relationship is like. Relationships take twists and turns, what are you going to do?”

Michael, who met Tarabasov several times when the couple was in New York City, said he got a favorable impression of his daughter’s fiancé, but “people are on their best behavior sometimes and you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. You don’t know what they’re all about. Everyone’s true colors come out sooner or later.”

He also told Us that he sent a number of texts to his daughter’s beau but hasn’t heard back from him. “I would imagine he’s not going to contact me,” he admitted. “Not after what I said.”
