Girl gone wild! Just in case the song “Can’t Be Tamed” wasn’t enough to drive the point home, these racy new images from Miley Cyrus‘ V Magazine cover story should prove once and for all that Hannah Montana has left the building. Modeling an edgier-than-ever punk-rock ‘do and several skimpy outfits, the 20-year-old former Disney starlet strikes a series of provocative poses.
On one of the magazine’s three alternate covers, the LOL actress rocks spiky pink hair and flaunts her toned abs in nothing but a black bra and underwear. Another cover shows her wearing a white blazer, black mens-style briefs with white piping, and nearly knee-high black riding boots.
The inside pictures are even more revealing. In one shot, Cyrus sits on the floor in head-to-toe black leather: leather boots, leather pants, and a leather motorcycle jacket. The only non-leather item of clothing is a black top emblazoned with her name and cropped to reveal her abs and underboob.
Speaking to the magazine about how her style has evolved over the last few years, the singer/actress says she’s just trying to do her own thing. “I’m going to change, I’m going to be different, I’m going to do what I want to do,” she explains. “I chopped my hair and bought a pair of Docs and never looked back.”
“In my mind I’m Gucci Mane,” she adds, referring to the “Wasted” rapper, “but on paper, I’m a pop artist.”
Which is not to say she regrets her bubblegum roots. “I can never say that I don’t love ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ and that I’m not appreciative of it,” she tells the magazine. “It would be like my dad saying that he hated ‘Achy Breaky.’ It’s what gives you everything that you have. I would never take it back.”
Cyrus also opens up to V about her relationship with fiance Liam Hemsworth, her costar in the movie The Last Song. (The couple got engaged last year but have hit a rough patch in recent months.)
“I’m not home with my boyfriend all the time. We work,” she says. “I don’t have time go to Starbucks with my boyfriend every morning. I wish I did, but I don’t. I’d rather chill at my house and be there for the time I actually get to spend with him. And then I’m at the studio all day. He gets up to work out at six and I come home at five from the studio. I put this record before everything, and I’ve never done that with anything. I’ve put too much into this record to put anything else in front of it.”
The provocative V pictures and accompanying interview come hot on the heels of Cyrus’ sexy Elle UK cover shoot, which featured the former Disney starlet in an oversized vest — and nothing else. Somewhat ironically, the actress claimed in that interview that she didn’t want to oversell her sex appeal.
“A star is someone who doesn’t have to take her clothes off to be sexy because you naturally have star power,” she told Elle. “Sex does sell, but you have to find a way that’s not just showing your tits. I don’t want to be a glorified model. They just walk on stage and it’s all about their clothes — or lack of clothes.”
