Disney Channel’s success story Miley Cyrus was born into a Nashville showbiz family in 1992.

Her father, Grammy-nominated country performer Billy Ray Cyrus, has sold more than 20 million records and appeared on the TV series Doc from 2001 to 2004.

Cyrus first appeared alongside her dad on the small screen in Doc before auditioning for Hannah Montana at the age of 12, though Disney execs considered her too young for the title role. She was extended the offer two years later, and was on the series from 2006 to 2011.

Hoping to break the Disney Channel image, Cyrus released her huge transition album, Can’t Be Tamed in 2010. During this time, Cyrus met Liam Hemsworth while costarring in the Nicholas Sparks film adaptation of The Last Song. The on-again, off-again couple split shortly after the release of her album Bangerz. The 2013 disc was an international success, ranking No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and selling more than 270,000 copies in just the first week. Cyrus and Hemsworth resumed their engagement January 2016.

Cyrus released her sixth studio album, Younger Now, in September 2017. She and Hemsworth finally tied the knot at their home in the Nashville area in December 2018. Less than eight months later, the twosome called it quits, and the actor filed for divorce.

After photos surfaced of Cyrus packing on the PDA with The Hills: New Beginnings star Kaitlynn Carter, the “Mother’s Daughter” songstress shut down allegations that her marriage to Hemsworth ended because she was unfaithful. Cyrus released a single titled “Slide Away” about her breakup with Hemsworth in August 2019.
