And why shouldn't she be smiling?
Angelina Jolie took a break from a family trip to the Galapagos Islands over the weekend, touching down in nearby Ecuador, where she toured the countryside to meet with misplaced Colombian refugees, and for a meeting with Ecuador's foreign minister, Ricardo Patino.
In just-released photos from Jolie's visit with Patino inside the ministry's headquarters, the star, wearing very little makeup, flashes an enormous, radiant smile. After all, the actress, 36, has plenty to celebrate: She and Brad Pitt confirmed their engagement a week and a half ago, and she was promoted to the title of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Special Envoy shortly thereafter.
Jolie, Pitt, 48, and their six kids have the Galapagos, and may hit the red carpet together next month at the Cannes Film Festival.
Pitt worked with jeweler Robert Procop for a year to custom-design Jolie's $500,000, 16-carat diamond ring; Procop, who worked in the past with the actress on her Style of Jolie collection, gushed to the Huffington Post about the star.
"She is a truly gifted artist and a pleasure to work with; she brings joy to everyone around her. It is an honor to work with someone who uses her talents to help the lives of so many. She is an inspiration."
