Chart-topping, record-breaking superstar Katy Perry had the best year of her career so far in 2011 -- but husband Russell Brand wasn't always cheering her on, pals reveal in the new Us Weekly, out now.

"There were so many times when he wasn't there," an insider says of Brand, 36, who blindsided Perry, 27, by filing for divorce Dec. 30 without consulting her.
Weeks before, when the "Firework" singer guest-hosted Saturday Night Live, the British comic turned down Perry's plea to perform in a skit with him, remaining in L.A. instead. And after Perry had pulled off her SNL stint?
"He told her that she wasn't that funny," an insider says of Perry's skits parodying Pippa Middleton, Christina Aguilera and others. "That really hurt."
And when the Arthur star did show up to support his wife, as he did at Perry's final concert stop in November, "He was totally uninterested and seemed annoyed he was there," says a witness. "I don't think he sat through one song."

34I was literally disgusted when I saw the headlines on this issue of US. First of all.. US obviously doesn't do any research and likes to fabricate things. From what I've heard Russel Brand is bi-polar. If you remember lyrics from Katy Perry's song "Hot and Cold" you will remember the lyric, "Got a case of a love bi-polar". Can't say for sure but, if it is true that Russel Brand is bi-polar., US should be ashamed for using the word "crazy" in their title because that is a shameful stigmatizing remark that hurts anyone who has a mental disorder such as bi-polar. And to squash this whole thing, Katy Perry made a post on twitter 3 days after this issue hit the stands saying simply this: katyperry Katy Perry Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, "close sources" or my family. 7 Jan You are a disgrace and should be ashamed of yourselves, US!
Wow, so he had no respect for her music or her supposed acting skills, I don't blame him, her music is terrible, lets admit it, she is terrible I was surprised he was even interested in her at all, but if you take a look at her titties then I guess you can understand.

the bottom line they are both entertainers... i have this feeling they will be back together... they are good for each other...for someone who has battled his addcitions... i respect that...and she needs lots to learn...he could teach her that...she is a singer and he is a comedian... and stick to that!

Well I'd have to agree but that's why she's a singer not a comedian?? I like him, her not really. I guess she's ok, if you're into that kind of music and funky fashion. I never saw these 2 working from the beginning. Then again what famous relationship does?? Very few.
Russell has always been a narcissistic attention wh@re. He can't stand not to be the center of attention, can he? Katy was outshining him, and he had a big chip on his shoulder. So, he pouts and stomps his feet. Eh, no big loss.
