Russell Brand

Brand, born in 1975, is an English comedian, actor, columnist and radio and television presenter who gained fame in the U.K. for hosting a Big Brother spin-off, Big Brother’s Big Mouth, and his sometimes-controversial radio shows.

Brand has appeared in a number of films, including Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he played Aldous Snow, the rockstar boyfriend of the title character (played by Kristen Bell). Brand also appeared in St. Trinian’s, and starred with Adam Sandler in 2008’s Bedtime Stories. In 2008, Brand hosted the MTV Video Music Awards.

After four months of dating, Brand proposed to his musician girlfriend Katy Perry during a New Year’s Eve vacation in India. The pair wed in the same location in October 2010. Brand filed for divorce in December 2012, reportedly announcing his intention to do so in a text message to his wife.
