
Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler is an Emmy-winning actress, comedian, writer and producer best known for her work on Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation. Poehler spent her early years in Burlington, Massachusetts, and attended Boston College, where she earned a degree in media and communications. During college, she became involved in improv and sketch comedy, inspiring her decision to pursue a career in entertainment after graduating.
Poehler began her career with the Upright Citizens Brigade, a sketch and improv group she cofounded, which later became a comedy institution. Her big break came in 2001 when she joined Saturday Night Live, where she gained recognition for her sharp political impressions and coanchoring “Weekend Update.” Her tenure on the show earned her multiple Emmy nominations and helped establish her as a leading comedic voice.
Poehler went on to star in Parks and Recreation as Leslie Knope, a role that brought her a Golden Globe Award and critical acclaim. Poehler has also appeared on the big screen in films including Mean Girls (2004), Baby Mama (2008), Sisters (2015) and Moxie (2021) and has voiced Joy in Pixar’s Inside Out (2015) and its sequels. Beyond acting, she has worked as a producer and director on various television projects, including First Time Female Director (2023).
Poehler married Will Arnett in 2003, and the pair welcomed two sons, Archie (born in 2008) and Abel (born in 2010). The couple separated in 2012 and finalized their divorce in 2016. She moved on with Nick Kroll from 2013 to 2015. In 2024, she began dating Joel Lovell.
