Lauren Conrad, nicknamed LC, was born and raised in Laguna Beach, Calif. Conrad became an overnight celebrity when her life was chronicled in the MTV reality series Laguna Beach: The Real O.C. , which premiered on the music channel in 2004.
After two wildly successful seasons, MTV gave Conrad her own spinoff series, The Hills, which was created to chronicle her internship at Teen Vogue and life in Los Angeles. The success of both programs made Conrad cover girl material for Teen Vogue and Seventeen magazines.
The Hills also showcased Conrad’s love life and her relationships with Stephen Colletti, Jason Wahler and brief fling with Brody Jenner as well as her public feud with frenemies Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who reportedly leaked a sex tape of Conrad and ex Wahler. In March 2008, Conrad announced that season 5 of The Hills would be her last.
In April 2009, Conrad announced she would be designing a clothing line for Kohl’s beginning in the fall. In June of the same year, the reality star released her first book, L.A. Candy, which debuted at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list. Conrad’s second novel, Sweet Little Lies, hit stores in February 2010.
