Lauren Conrad, nicknamed LC, was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California. Conrad became an overnight celebrity in 2004 when her life was chronicled in the reality series Laguna Beach: The Real O.C. on MTV.

After two wildly successful seasons, MTV gave Conrad her own spinoff series, The Hills, which followed along as she lived her life in Los Angeles and landed an internship at Teen Vogue and later People’s Revolution. The series, which aired from 2006 to 2010, catapulted Conrad into the spotlight, landing her on the covers of magazines like Seventeen and Teen Vogue.

Laguna Beach and The Hills also showcased Conrad’s love life over the years, including her relationships with Stephen CollettiJason Wahler and a whirlwind romance with Brody Jenner. The show also chronicled her public feud with former BFF Heidi Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt, who reportedly leaked a sex tape of Conrad and ex Wahler. In March 2008, Conrad announced that season 5 of The Hills would be her last.

In fall 2009, Conrad launched a clothing line for Kohl’s, LC Lauren Conrad, which was later expanded to include a bedding collection. The designer also introduced an upscale runway collection for the line during New York Fashion Week that September.

In April 2011, Conrad revealed The Beauty Department collection, which she created with hairstylist Kristin Ess and makeup artist Amy Nadine. Three months later, she launched her third clothing line, Paper Crown, which was sold in Nordstrom. She is also the founder of BlueAvocado, an eco-friendly line of handbags. In August 2020, Conrad launched Lauren Conrad Beauty as a line of affordable and eco-friendly makeup.

The former reality star released her first book, L.A. Candy, in June 2009, which debuted at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list. It was followed by sequels Sweet Little LiesSugar and Spice and Lauren Conrad Style one year later. In October 2012, Conrad dropped The Fame Game, a follow-up to the novel Starstruck. The final novel of the trilogy, Infamous, was released in June 2013.

In addition to her relationships documented on The Hills and Laguna Beach, Conrad began dating actor Kyle Howard in 2008. Their romance lasted for three years before the two called it quits in 2011. In February 2012, Conrad moved on with former Something Corporate guitarist William Tell, and the couple tied the knot in September 2014. Together they share two children, sons William and Charles.
