Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland is an American actress best known for playing Haley Dunphy on Modern Family. The daughter of actors Melissa Canaday and Edward James Hyland, Sarah spent her childhood in New York City and attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan while building her acting career. As a child, she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia and received two kidney transplants.

Sarah has appeared in several films, including Private Parts (1997), Annie (1999) and Blind Date (2007), as well as guest roles on television. Her breakthrough role came in 2009 when she was cast as Haley Dunphy on Modern Family. The hit ABC sitcom ran for 11 seasons and earned multiple Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series, helping establish the actress as a household name. She later expanded into entertainment hosting, serving as the host of Love Island USA from 2022 to 2023.

Since her big break she has appeared in many additional films, including Geek Charming (2011), Vampire Academy (2014), See You in Valhalla (2015), Dirty Dancing (2017) and My Fake Boyfriend (2022). In 2013, she received a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Hyland married Wells Adams in August 2022 after becoming engaged in 2019. Before their relationship, she dated actor Matt Prokop and later actor Dominic Sherwood.
