Forty’s the new twenty, according to people who spot Ryan Phillippe. The baby-faced star, who hit the big 4-0 in September, admitted to Variety he still gets “carded constantly.”

And his youthful appearance isn’t only causing confusion at restaurants and bars.

“My daughter hates it,” Phillippe told the magazine of his 15-year-old daughter Ava with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon. “Because sometimes people have thought I’m her brother, and she’s freaked out by that.” (The Secrets and Lies actor also shares Deacon, 11, with Witherspoon.)

Still, there is one thing that has the dad counting his gray hairs: the upcoming remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 1997 iconic flick that launched Phillippe’s career.

“I’m excited about it,” he said. “It just makes me feel old.”

Two years after shooting the slasher film, the actor worked on Cruel Intentions with Witherspoon and admits it aged him, even if it may not look that way.

"That was sort of the end of my innocence," he says of being dubbed a sex symbol after both films were released. "That was like the end of my youth, because I went straight into marriage and kids.”  (The couple wed in 1999 and finalized their divorced in 2007.)

That emotional maturity has prepped him for his current role as Ben Crawford on the ABC drama Secrets and Lies, the actor said. “Playing a father whose life is being torn apart — my younger self could not relate to any of those things, but I do, very, very much, at my age now.”
