Nothing but a number! Stephen Fry confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 6, that he is marrying his boyfriend Elliott Spencer, who is 30 years his junior.
The British actor and comedian, 57, took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning to confirm that he is marrying Spencer, 27. Fry was inspired to comment on his personal life after The Sun broke the news on Monday, Jan. 5, that he is engaged.
"Oh," the 24: Live Another Day star wrote. "It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!"
Fry first stepped out with Spencer, who is also a comedian, this past fall. The veteran funnyman previously dated salesman Daniel Cohen and was linked to younger actor Steven Webb, now 30, before finding love with Spencer.
"Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations," Fry wrote to his followers. "Deeply touched xxx… Your adorable tweets are bringing me close to sobbing."
Fry's assistant confirmed the engagement news to BBC, saying in a statement to the British publication, "Stephen Fry is very happy and proud to say that he has set the wheels in motion for a wedding sometime in the future but no date has been set due to a busy work schedule."
