Breaking up may be hard to do, but as Susan Sarandon can attest, the single life's no cakewalk, either. Us Weekly caught up with the star on Monday, May 11, at a screening of her new Lifetime movie, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, where she dished about moving on (or trying to, at least) after her split from ex-boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin.
"I wouldn't even know where to look for a man in L.A.," the 68-year-old Oscar winner confessed to Us. "Do you know where to look for a man in L.A.? I have no idea how to meet anybody, really. I'm just recently single, so I'm just bopping around trying to figure it out."
Navigating the dating scene is especially difficult because she can't really be, well, on the scene, she noted. "I can't really go to a bar, because when I go to a place and sit down, then everybody wants pictures," she explained. "And then it's kind of off-putting for anyone."
The actress — who was married from 1967 to 1979 to Chris Sarandon, and then dated David Bowie, Franco Amurri, and Tim Robbins — has been single since splitting from 37-year-old Bricklin earlier this year. Prior to their breakup, the two were together for five years, and co-owned the New York City-based ping-pong club SPiN.
"I don't think I would have been with the guy I was with for so long if we hadn't been working together, and I got to know him first," she admitted. "So I don't know. If you have advice, I would like to know."
Just don't mention dating apps — Sarandon is not the Tinder type. "I don't think that the swiping right or left would work for me," she told Us.
