Teresa Giudice is free. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was released from prison on Wednesday, December 23, just two days before Christmas.
The reality star, who reported to prison last January, was released early after just 11 months behind bars at Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut. According to E! News, her lawyer, James Leonard, was on hand to pick her up. (Her husband, Joe Giudice, still doesn’t have a driver's license after he pleaded guilty for attempting to obtain a license under his brother’s identity.)
Teresa and Joe pleaded guilty to multiple federal fraud charges in March 2014. The couple admitted to hiding assets and submitting fake loan applications, as well as failing to pay taxes. Joe, who begins his sentence in March, was sentenced to 41 months and will serve his time at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey. Their sentences were staggered for their daughters’ sake. The reality personalities are parents of Gia, 14, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 9, and Audriana, 6.
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Teresa plans to spend the holiday with her family at brother and sister-in-law Joe and Melissa Gorga’s home in Montville, New Jersey.
“It’s a blessing that everyone will be together,” Melissa told Us.
Last week, the Guidice's lawyer, Leonard, spent time at the family home preparing for Teresa's release.
"Spent last night with Joe and the girls getting everything ready for @Teresa_Giudice homecoming ...," he tweeted at the time. "#December 23" he added.
As for whether Bravo cameras will be rolling on Teresa’s homecoming, a source explained to Us that “nothing is official” and that “work is at the bottom of Teresa’s priority list right now.”
