In the mirror-selfie, geo-tagged in Tokyo’s trendy Harajuku district, the “Starboy” singer, 26 — clad in a blue velvet jacket, black T-shirt and distressed jeans paired with dark shades and a surgical mask — stands close to the brunette bombshell, who is flaunting her toned abs in a black bra top teamed with camo-print trousers.
Though he barely mentions his love life in public, The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) opened up about dating Yolanda Foster’s youngest daughter during an October 2015 interview with Rolling Stone.
According to the Grammy winner, he initially reached out to Bella — whose sister Gigi Hadid is also a model — because he wanted to work with her. “I actually asked her to be on the artwork for Beauty Behind the Madness,” the chart-topper, whose romance with Bella began in April 2015, told the music bible. “My motive was literally to work with her.”
He continued: “I was like, All right, cool — we can meet up face-to-face,” her now-boyfriend recalled. “It just kind of fell into my lap. If this had happened two years ago — well … she couldn’t.” (Two years prior to his chat with RS, Bella would’ve been 16.)
For her part, the fashion muse couldn’t help but gush over her talented beau during an interview with Glamour for their September 2016 cover story.
“I’m dating Abel. I don’t see him as The Weeknd,” Bella said. “I’m proud of The Weeknd and the music he makes, but I really love Abel.”
