Leaving little to the imagination! Bella Hadid turned heads on the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, May 18, wearing a barely there gown that showed lots of skin. And thanks to a seemingly clever hidden dress detail, she escaped what could have been a mortifying wardrobe malfunction on the world's most glamorous red carpet.
The model, 19, struck a leggy pose in the backless crimson Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress, which featured a plunging neckline and a hipbone-high slit. Hadid paired the sultry design with strappy black Giuseppe Zanotti Design heels, a diamond bracelet and statement earrings. She also switched up her hairstyle from the evening before by adding eyebrow-skimming bangs to her elegant retro-inspired updo.
Hadid narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction while entering the screening for The Unknown Girl. Despite her best efforts to keep the dress in place, the fabric slipped as she climbed the stairs, revealing a matching thong that blocked her nether regions from paparazzi lenses.
Even in tough situations — like a misbehaving dress — Hadid, whose mother is former model and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster, knows how to snap the perfect pic. "My mom always taught me to think about something happy when I'm working, because it kind of shows through your face,” Hadid, whose father is Mohamed Hadid, told Elle for the June 2016 issue. "I used to think about my horses, but now I think about other things."
The middle Hadid child (her older sister is model Gigi) has plenty to make her smile these days, including her eighth cover of the year and her relationship with The Weeknd, who she attended the Met Gala with on May 2.
