The best accessory? Girl’s best friend! Pippa Middleton took her cocker spaniel, Rafa — and, yes, her gigantic diamond engagement ring — for a walk in London on Monday, July 25.

The newly engaged royal-in-law, 32, strolled around London’s posh Chelsea neighborhood wearing a loose peach button-up blouse, teamed with skinny jeans that showed off her toned legs. She completed the breezy ensemble with square sunglasses, a brown leather bag, fringed sandals and her estimated 3.5-carat diamond sparkler.

Meanwhile, her adorable dog, whom she shares with fiancé James Matthews, strolled right beside her on a classic rope leash.

Both Middleton and her older sister, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have cocker spaniels as pets. In fact, their younger brother, James, gave Duchess Kate her pup, Lupo, as a wedding present.

Since the royal wedding in 2011, Lupo has appeared in many a family portrait, including one of the adorable snaps shared in honor of Prince George‘s third birthday on July 22. The portrait shows the future king of England and his furry friend on a picnic blanket, with George sweetly offering Lupo a tea party treat as a snack.

Middleton and Matthew announced their engagement on Tuesday, July 19, in a short-and-sweet statement: “Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday, July 17, and plan to marry next year.”

That same day, Middleton’s family, including her royal sis, released their own statements expressing their excitement. “They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together,” father Michael Middleton said. Kensington Palace (on behalf of Kate and her husband, Prince William) added, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news.”
