The rumors were true: Lena Dunham is the new cover star of Vogue! The magazine, known for putting stylish A-list celebrities and high-end fashion models on their covers, has featured the 27-year-old creator of HBO's hit series Girls on their coveted February issue.
In the cover shot by acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz, Dunham is featured in a close headshot wearing a white dress shirt by Burberry with a large red polka dot print. Her brunette pixie cut is tousled to the side in an edgy look, and her makeup is glam with heavy eyeliner, dark eyeshadow and red lips. Dunham, who plays Hannah Horvath on Girls, has a stressed-out look on her face while holding one hand to her temple and pulling her collar with the other.
Beside her photo, it reads: "Hey, girl. Lena Dunham: The New Queen of Comedy."
Perhaps proving she is worthy of the title, an inside photo from Dunham's shoot with Vogue shows that actress sitting on top of costar Adam Driver's shoulders while crossing a street in New York. Dunham is dressed in a bizarre tan tutu with bright yellow feather shoes that makes her resemble a bird. Driver, 30, meanwhile, looks handsome in a dark ensemble and is walking a dog on a leash.
Rumors began to swirl back in October that Dunham was in talks to appear on a cover of Vogue. She was photographed together with Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in L.A. on Oct. 23.
Speculation grew to a fever pitch when Wintour attended the season three premiere of Girls in New York City on Jan. 6. The third season of Girls premiered on HBO on Sunday, Jan. 12.
