Orange may be the new black, but the citrus shade was nowhere in sight at the glamorous season two premiere of the hit Netflix series.
The ladies of Orange Is the New Black looked downright unrecognizable—in the best of ways—as they left their jumpsuits on set and slipped into dazzling dresses for the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City on Thursday, May 15.
Laura Prepon (Alex Vause) opted for a ladylike custom dress from Memeka by Gustavo Cadile. The below-the-knee style also featured a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves. She accessorized with JN Jewels by Jacqueline Nerguizian.
Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman) wore a neoprene Monique Lhuillier dress with a graphic skull print and carried a Thale Blanc clutch. Her blonde hair, styled straight and sleek, was parted in the middle. For her makeup, Schilling wore a bright berry lip. "I was inspired by the colors in her dress, and wanted one fresh pop of color, so we went with bold pink lips to complement the grey," Tina Turnbow, celebrity makeup artist for Tarte, tells Us Weekly. She created a custom poppy hue by first applying LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Lively and layering on LipSurgence Lip Tint in Charmed.
Natasha Lyonne (Nicky Nichols) opted for lots of sparkles in a sequined midi gown with sheer sleeves and embroidery along the neckline. She accessorized with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.
Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren) proved that black is the new black in a chic crop top and a-line skirt. Her chin-length bob was worn in soft, structured waves while a pop of purple on her lips added color.
While Lyonne and Aduba chose black, Adrienne Moore (Black Cindy) brightened the evening in a fuchsia and red Eloquii gown. She added a bright purple lip color for flash.
Laverne Cox (Sophia Burset) looked fierce in a black dress with cut-outs along the bustling and sleeves. She wore her long, blonde hair down and straight.
Taryn Manning (Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett) looked particularly glam in a lace sheath dress with a gold harness. Celeb hairstylist Michael Duenas slicked her white-blonde hair back on one side and balanced it with romantic side-swept bangs on the other.
Danielle Brooks (Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson) flashed just a hint of skin in a color-blocked dress with a slight cut-out at the waist and embroidery along the neckline.
