Savannah Brinson has stood by NBA star LeBron James through thick and thin and the pair have been dating since since high school and have two children.

So it makes sense that after all that time, the NBA star finally asked for his longtime love's hand with an impressive, off-the-charts engagement ring!

"LeBron rules, on and off the courts! He scored a slam-dunk with this magnificent platinum and diamond engagement ring, featuring a 7-carat pear-shaped center diamond with classic tapered baguette sides," jewelry expert Michael O'Connor told Us Weekly. "We haven’t really seen this style of ring with a large pear-shaped center diamond since another great love affair: Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor!"

A source tells Us that James, 27, popped the question to Brinson at the Shelborne hotel in South Beach Saturday while their two kids, James' Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade, Wade's girlfriend Gabrielle Union, Lance Bass and Jamie Lynn Sigler looked on.

All these NBA players have sex on every trip with different women. This girl is just the lucky one to have the ring and the money what comes to her. She don't care who he is having sex with. With these type of people it is all about the money.

I found it interesting people posting what sort of example are they setting for their children. As long as I'm not paying for their children, frankly don't care. What are your thoughts on Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood (4 children out of wedlock), Halle Berry and the many other celebrities who have children without the benefit of marriage.

Some woman wear the engagement ring on the right hand to preserve the left hand for the actual wedding ring. They continue to wear the engagement ring on the right hand after marriage. I did the same thing myself. I can't wait to see the actual wedding ring. It's bound to be gorgeous. I wish them well. All marriages don't fail despite the negatives. It was probably smart of them to wait. The have been through the rough patches that new relationships bring. They are pass the jealousy and other petty notions... They already live with what erks the other and manage to make it work. Both of my older sisters did it this way as well and they are so happy and still truly in love with their partners after 26 years for one and 19 years for the other. God Bless them both I say. In case your wondering 26 years= 9 years bf and 17 years married and 19 years= 7 years bf and 12 years married.

Did he buy that ring from Jessica Simpson? It looks identical to her engagement ring from Nick Lacey. And I think Bethenny Frankel (SkinnyGirl/Bethenny Ever After fame) has a pear shaped engagement ring in platinum with bagettes. So...Michael O Conner needs some more information.

Thats funny why no one could not just be happy for them, and as far as setting an example whats wrong with having someone you can trust before you make it big, an just because you have kids dont mean you need to get married. I like the fact that waited. Congrats to the both of them.
