Shenae Grimes selected a pretty -- if a tad unusual -- dress for her May 10 wedding to model and musician Josh Beech. As previously reported by Us Weekly, the couple tied the knot just outside of London while surrounded by family and friends.
The bride wore a black "Josephine" gown from Vera Wang's Fall 2012 collection, Us can confirm. The V-neck halter dress featured a chantilly lace bodice, distressed organza and shadow lace flowers at the neck, and a multi-layered crinkle tulle skirt.
In June 2012, the designer blogged about the look Grimes would later wear for her nuptials. "I don't usually do a completely exposed back, but in the right setting, a woman's back can be a tremendously magnetic display," Wang wrote. "The rosettes form almost a ruff, or a halo -- very gorgeous and dreamy. In the black gown, which is so moody, there's an effect almost like an empress or a dramatic sorceress."
Wang added that the gown "is for the romanticist bride who wants to embody that allure and seduction while drifting in a very ethereal, romantic world." It retails for $4,900.
90210's Grimes certainly isn't the first celebrity to wear a non-traditional wedding dress: Sarah Jessica Parker wore a black gown when she wed Matthew Broderick in 1997, while her Sex and the City costar Cynthia Nixton selected a green Carolina Herrera gown for her 2012 wedding to Christine Marinoni. Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon and Anne Hathaway each wore pink and white looks for their recent weddings.
