  This woman is just looking to get paid. If the dog wanted to hurt her he would have. I have a German Shepherd and they are not born killers they are amazing family dogs and are highly intelligent and very loving!!!!!!

  No they are not killers..it depends on how they are trained, and if so..males are the ones that need to be watched..they can be very territorial and protective..and the chick was warned..hello! hide the sharp objects..duh..

  No shepherds are not killers..it depends on how they are trained..just like any other dogs..and the males are the ones u need to watch for..they are very territorial....

  Jessica is right, not all dogs are violent. It also doesn’t matter how old the case is. This should serve as an example to dog owners everywhere (and potential owners as well). Understand your dog, and keep that dog under control. I have owned dogs for years, am a vet tech and recognized dog expert. Rarely have I seen a situation when a domesticated dog “committed” an offense that the owner could not have prevented. I don't care how rich and famous they are - dog owners have no place bringing a "trained protection dog" around other people unless they can control that dog. Clearly, the couple did not need protection against a flight attendant with silverware, c'mon people! The dog growled as a warning - he was doing his job. It was at that moment that the owners should have been able to pull back on the dog and give a command to cease. Instead, the dog just continued to do what it was trained to do. This is just another example of irresponsible dog owners giving dogs a bad rap. I firmly believe that there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. I have seen the most vicious dogs rehabilitated with proper training and attention. That being said, they are still animals. It is up to their handlers to keep them from harming others. If you can’t handle that, then don’t get a dog.

  The idiots that kill small children need to be as well trained as that dog.It has been trained to use just enough force to protect but not do sever injury. If it felt it was necessary it would have gone for the neck. It will be difficult to prove any current back pain is from that fall. sounds like a momey grab to me. Maybe the dog needs to protect her again.

  This happned in 2006. We're in 2009 now, so why is it so important to report upon THREE years later? They say it's a personal protection dog. Well, it might have thought this woman was carrying the silverware to hurt someone and attacked. If it's angered by silverware, why bring it by him to begin with?

  Dogs are violent, I was attacked by 2 from BEHIND, never heard them coming when I was 11 walking home from school, in a normal house filled neighborhood. A neighbor heard me screaming, ran out with a broom and tried to beat them off me, one went after him. Another neighbor came out with a gun and luckily shot and killed one, the other took off. I was bitten many times over, scratched up, clothes torn, so was the guy with the broom. Big or small dogs are violent, relatives all had them, someone was always getting bit, people in NYC won't pick up the dog poop, won't keep them on leashes, dog piss all over the sidewalks, my apt. building sounds and smells like a dog kennel. Fleas everywhere, drool. It's filthy and disgusting. Need companionship, get a human friend or a hamster,or fish, something that won't hurt or bother other people. I hope that stewardress gets a huge settlement and that dog is put down. Wish all of them would be exterminated, if you'd been through and around them like I have been, you would think this too.

  people like them should not be allowed to own an animal. why is that dog afraid of sharp objects? that's a first for me. some idiots seem to think that you have to scream and hit a dog. this does not teach them sh$! what it does do is make the dog afraid of you. he no longer does things to please you, he does what he is told because he is afraid of you. idiots. that is why I like animals a hell of alot more than most humans I know
