Amy Schumer Defends Bill Cosby in Mock Rape Trial, Serves Jurors Pudding Pops

Wow! Amy Schumer actually went there. On Tuesday, May 26’s Inside Amy Schumer show, the blonde comedian played the role of Bill Cosby‘s defense attorney, in a fictional representation of his trial in the Court of Public Opinion.

The scene starts with the prosecutor’s closing arguments before the focus switches to Schumer, playing the role of Cosby’s lawyer (in a very short skirt!). After getting the jury dancing along to her Cosby-esque dance routine, she goes on to prove that the beloved Cosby Show alum couldn’t possibly be guilty of his alleged sexual abuse, because, well, he’s Dr. Huxtable.

“We’ve heard a lot of stuff about what’s happened in the past few weeks, about what may or may not have happened. All these women, same story, same facts. But how do you feel when I play this?” she asks, playing a Cosby Show video on the in-court television.

“Did anyone feel raped by that?” she asks, boldly. “What about drugged?” The jurors shake their heads. “I felt comforted by a familiar father figure,” she continues.

Next weapon in her armory? A collection of pudding pops. As the jurors clamored for a frozen snack she asked them, “How could the face of such a yummy treat even do anything bad?”

The sketch continues with even more uncomfortable moments, as the jury are gifted Cosby-style pullovers and chocolate cake, supposedly sent in from the controversial star himself.

But it’s the always-inappropriate comedienne’s closing argument that gets the most gasps. “This is a court of public opinion,” Schumer declares. “If convicted, the next time you put on a rerun of the Cosby Show you may wince a little, might feel a little pang. None of us deserve to feel that pang. We deserve to dance like no one’s watching, and watch like no one’s raping.”

Talking earlier this year about the sketch, Schumer admitted her Cosby sketch was the most controversial yet, and caused chaos in the inside writers’ room. “I think we probably talked about this scene more than any other scene we’ve done,” she admitted.
