He then attended the afterparty at the Sundance Eveleigh pop-up where a source tells Us Weekly he stayed for a long time in the VIP section.

"He is as sweet as can be and even more handsome in person," the source dishes to Us. "He was just socializing and chatting with James Franco. He's really the nicest guy!"

An eyewitness tells Us that the father of six noshed on mini sliders and fries, downing several cocktails at the party.

"Brad wanted to smoke a cigarette, but he didn't want to go out front where all the fans and people waiting for him could see," the eyewitness adds. A window was cracked near the couch so he could smoke indoors. "He lit his cigarette, and then stuck his head out the window, and then all of the sudden he was gone! He actually crawled out through the window onto the roof and smoked his cir. He was alone but must have gotten a phone call because he was on the phone out there too."

Prior to his exit, Pitt posed for a picture with True Story star Franco, 36, and director Rupert Goold

"Just chillin with these dudes at SUNDANCE. #rupertgoold #bradpitt," Franco captioned an Instagram picture of the trio.

The next day, Pitt attended the 2015 Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles. His wife's film Unbroken is nominated for a SAG Award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, so the high-profile couple might be attending the Jan. 25 awards show.
