Unforeseeably fired! Brooke Burke-Charvet is “in shock” after being let go from her co-hosting job on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, a source tells Us Weekly. After working on the show for seven seasons, Burke-Charvet, 42, wasn’t notified of the decision until “just a few hours before it was announced. She had no idea.”
Replacing Tom Bergeron‘s co-host is Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews. And according to Us’ insider, the blonde stunner’s following factored into the casting decision.
“Everyone loved [Brooke], but the execs wanted a whole new show,” the source revealed. Adding that Andrews’ “young male following” was appealing to the network. “They’re desperate for those viewers,” the source added.
News of Burke-Charvet’s exit came right after DWTS band leader Harold Wheeler and his 28-person band were also unceremoniously fired.
“So much chatter bout DWTS,” the former co-host tweeted on Feb. 23. “I’m really cool everyone. I did my 7 seasons, had a blast! I’m ready for change. I love your loyalty. Thank you!”
