On-screen Evil Stepmother Cate Blanchett made one journalist sweep up the ashes of his broken career during an awkward-yet-hilarious interview on March 25. Prior to the blowup, the Cinderella actress, 45, had been joking around with L.A.-based reporter Jonathan Hyla, who was working for Australian outlet The Project.

The clips were cut down and taken slightly out of context from the full interview, but it appears the conversation had veered off topic and onto vodka (from their red cheeks and slightly slurred speech, it seems like they might have been taking a few shots), when Hyla tried to steer things back toward the movie.

“Okay, serious question, how were you able to get that cat to do what you wanted it to on a leash?” Hyla asked, referring to the Evil Stepmother’s fluffy pet. “I tried to put my girlfriend’s cat on a leash, and it just never works for me.”

“That’s your question? That’s your f—king question?” Blanchett exclaimed, grinning. The reporter tried to defend himself, as the rest of the crew laughed in the background.

Blanchett then says “nice to meet you” and holds out her hand, but Hyla goes in for the high five — a painful high five fail ensues.

Hyla posted several clips from the interview on Instagram, writing, “Thanks to my new favorite person Cate Blanchett for what might have been the best worst interview I've ever done. #WhyDoTheyLetMeInterviewOscarWinners #Vodka #Sex #HighFive #Cinderella @TheProjectTV.”
