Batfleck to the rescue! Having been in showbiz since she was just 10 years old, Danielle Fishel has had more than a few encounters of the super-famous kind. Her new memoir, Normally, This Would Be Cause for Concern: Tales of Calamity and Unrelenting Awkwardness, details some of these encounters — including one occasion on which she was saved from humiliation by none other than A-list superstar Ben Affleck.
As detailed in Chapter 3 of her book, the Boy Meets World actress, now 33, was attending a Halloween party in five-inch heels when she tripped on some uneven walkway and ended up "splayed out on the ground" with a bloody lip and torn fishnet stockings. While some onlookers stood and laughed, one man — described by Fishel as "terrifyingly handsome" — scooped her up and carried her to safety.
It wasn't until she was in his arms that she realized the identity of her knight in shining armor. "This handsome giant is Ben freaking Affleck, and you might bleed on him," she recalled thinking at the time.
The Girl Meets World star's book also includes some anecdotes about her time on Boy Meets World in the 1990s. In Chapter 1, for example — which is excerpted on the Today show's website — she recounts how she came to win the part of Topanga Lawrence after a failed audition and a tough first day on set. Later in the memoir, she describes the experience of getting her first kiss from costar Ben Savage.
"I kind of wanted to dispel the myth that actors or celebrities in general always have it together," she said of the book on Today. "We tend to put out this image that we're perfect and we leave the house looking great all the time, and at least in my case that couldn't be further from the truth."
