Kelly Clarkson’s Dream Duet Partners, Plus 3 Artists Who’d Happily Work With Her

Kelly Clarkson
In light of Kelly Clarkson's revelation that she can't get anyone to collaborate with her, Us Weekly found three artists who've expressed interest in a duet before; plus, find out who's on her dream list!

All she ever wanted was a duet partner! Kelly Clarkson fans were shocked this week when she revealed in an interview with BBC Radio 1 that she can’t get anyone to collaborate with her. “Everyone usually says no,” she lamented to host Nick Grimshaw. “Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy…I don’t know.”

Loyal followers quickly chimed in on Twitter, volunteering themselves for future collaborations. But they’re not the only ones itching to team up with the American Idol alum. Here are three other artists who’ve expressed interest in working with the “Heartbeat Song” hitmaker, 32, plus six people on Clarkson’s dream duet list.

Demi Lovato

Clarkson and Lovato made beautiful music together when they performed “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” at Y100’s Jingle Ball in 2011, but Lovato has long expressed her desire to collaborate with the star in a more official way. She told Zach Sang in 2013 that she “would love to sing” with the Idol winner, and also included Clarkson on a list of her dream collaborations in 2014.

Miguel

Clarkson was blown away by the R&B singer’s Grammys performance in 2013, to the point where she gave him a shout-out in her acceptance speech that night. “Miguel, I don’t know who the hell you are, but we need to sing together,” she gushed. “I mean, good God. That was the sexiest damn thing I’ve ever seen.”

The “Adorn” crooner later told Extra he appreciated the love, and would happily collaborate with Clarkson. “I had to tell her and let her know that whenever she was ready, we’re down to work,” he said.

Lawson

The British pop-rockers — best known over the pond for songs including “Juliet” and “When She Was Mine” — told Capital FM in 2012 that they’d love to work with the “Catch My Breath” belter. “Kelly Clarkson — someone like that would be amazing,” singer Andy Brown said. “Just a female vocalist who can get on the second verse and bring it somewhere new would be incredible.”

On Kelly’s List:

Pink, Lady Gaga, and Jessie J

Clarkson tweeted in 2012 that she had an idea for a collaboration involving herself and three other female pop vocalists.

Adele

The “Stronger” singer told Us Weekly in 2013 that she was a “superfan” of the “Someone Like You” chanteuse. “She’s my big favorite to work with,” she gushed. She also joked in 2011 that she was “stalking” Adele for a duet, and name-dropping her at every opportunity. “Every interview, they are like, ‘Who do you want to work with?’ ‘Adele! I want to do a duet with Adele!'” she told MTV News. “I’ve been stalking her since we did [VH1] Divas together, actually.”

Bruno Mars and Lil Wayne

Clarkson revealed to radio host Ralph Aversa in 2012 that she reached out to both the “Locked Out of Heaven” crooner and the “She Will” rapper for duets, only to be turned down. “Either Bruno Mars or Lil Wayne, I had different songs for both of them,” she said on 95.5 PLJ’s The Ralphie Show. “It was just kind of a cool, random thing. But nothing ever works out.” (She noted, however, that both stars were on tour at the time she asked.)
