Mischa Barton Talks Disappointing ‘DWTS’ Performance: ‘This Whole Week Psyched Me Out’

Putting it all behind her. Mischa Barton ended up in the bottom three on Dancing With the Stars on Monday, March 28, but despite battling illness and feeling totally “psyched” out, the actress is determined that she and partner Artem Chigvintsev can still be successful.

The former O.C. actress came across as a sourpuss during rehearsals with her dance pro Chigvintsev, repeatedly answering requests from him and the producers with a rude “whatever.”

But talking to Us Weekly after the show, Barton explained she’d been feeling really ill for the past seven days, and even getting through rehearsals had been a battle.

“We both got sick since last week which wasn’t great, so on antibiotics, trying to get through the dance, through our cha cha and stay positive … You have five days to learn it and get through it, and when you’re not feeling 100 percent from the last dance, [it’s tough],” she said.

But despite her struggles, Barton, 30, is eager to put this week behind her and hopes she’ll be able to find a better mental attitude going forward.

“I think we’ll probably get back to a better place now,” she said, hopefully. “I just feel like this whole week just psyched me out, and maybe now it’s time to just attack it with positivity.”

Partner Chigvintsev is planning on letting Barton have free reign when it comes to finding a dance that really inspires her next week.

“We’re going to pick a song that we like, we’re going to pick the dress that we like, we’re going to pick the concept that we like, all the good stuff,” he explained.

“He’s trying to appeal to all the things that I like! The clothes, the music. ‘You can wear your hair the way you want!'” Barton replied, laughing. But jokes aside, she still has belief that they can succeed in this contest.

“I really think we can do this,” she added, enthusiastically.
