Get ready for a much mellower turtle time on The Real Housewives of New York City. When Bravo premieres the seventh season of its reality smash April 7, the return of Bethenny Frankel won’t be the only surprise to longtime viewers of the series. As Ramona Singer explains, now that she’s a single lady in the Big Apple, she’s mellowing out.

“Being betrayed by your spouse is probably the worst thing that can happen to a person, and it humbled me big time,” Singer, 58, told HuffPost Live in an April 7 interview. You’re going to see a side I’ve never exposed before: A more sensitive, fun side. Luann [de Lesseps] says divorce suits me. I’m in a great place.”

Singer has indeed come a long way since discovering husband of 22 years Mario’s infidelity with his mistress Kacey Dexter. It took months for her to end their marriage, and she finally pulled the plug after Mario, 61, cheated a second time. (A source closed to Singer tells Us her divorce will soon be finalized.)

Since then, she’s never looked back. “My husband basically had a midlife crisis. I wasn’t going to wait for another four years for him to get over it, if he ever got over it,” she told HuffPost Live. “As Dorinda, our new cast member, says, when a door closes, a window opens. And I’m flying through it!”

Perhaps the biggest change for Singer outside of her new single status? Her interactions with Frankel, who returns to the series after four years away.

“You’re going to see us bond in a different way,” Singer said of Frankel, who commiserates with the Pinot Grigio aficionado over her own failed marriage to Jason Hoppy this season. “She’s a tough cookie, and we fight like cats, but there’s some situations she and I had, where the old Ramona would let it continue. If she’s getting angry at me now, it’s something else going on in her life, not me,” hinted Singer. “I have more patience for her [this season].”
