An SOS at SOS! Fresh from their peacemaking trip to the Philippines, the Real Housewives of Atlanta band together to give back to their community in the April 12 episode of their Bravo hit.
Phaedra Parks, inspired by her widowed Filipino tour guide — a single mother who struggled to support her five children after the death of her husband — and her own husband's absence thanks to an eight-year prison sentence, wants to give back to the community. Phaedra decides to do something to encourage young boys to be better men and future fathers, so she hosts a rally called Save Our Sons. Nearly all of the Housewives show up to lend a hand — except for Kandi Burruss, who had an appointment with her fertility doctor. Even NeNe Leakes, who’s been busy in New York City preparing for Cinderella, her big Broadway debut, makes it out.
Though everyone supports Phaedra’s noble mission, the girls are unable to keep the day drama-free. As the Housewives prepare plates for the audience, Claudia Jordan chides NeNe about her “explosive” exit from that unsuccessful group counseling session with Dr. Jeff. Though NeNe initiated the session, she has no regrets about leaving.
In her confessional, NeNe expresses that the girls are “full of s--t” for pretending to get along. She also tells Claudia that the video message the girls recorded for her was “phony.”
“In my opinion, you all have your own personal issues,” NeNe says. “Everybody here has done wrong…it was unfair, in my opinion, to point fingers as if someone was the captain of the ship of doing wrong when all of you guys have had your hands in dirt.”
NeNe affirms that she’s in a very good place and says that she’s ready to move forward, but Claudia and Cynthia Bailey continue to mention the failed counseling session. NeNe tries her best to keep her cool.
“I’m just NeNe,” she sighs in her confessional. “Trying not to be Nae Nae.”
Claudia calls NeNe a quitter and continues to chastise her — and they end up arguing loud enough for the guests to hear. For the second time this season, NeNe walks out. Claudia demands that the OG housewife confront her problems and finally fix her feuds with all of the girls, something that she failed to accomplish at the counseling session.
“You gon’ have to back up,” NeNe warns Claudia, who refuses to leave her alone. Kenya has to restrain Claudia from following NeNe out of the premises.
“It was NeNe’s idea for us to go to a therapy session, but then you bail,” Claudia explains in her confessional. “You’re damn right I’m going to chase her down, because I want answers — and I think I deserve them.”
A fed-up NeNe grabs Gregg and goes back to where she belongs — on Broadway.
“They want to try to dim my light, so their light can shine,” NeNe claims in her confessional. “But you know what? It ain’t gonna work.”
