They may be royalty, but Prince William and Princess Catherine left Buckingham Palace just like any other couple leaving their wedding reception — in a decorated car.

Best man Prince Harry, 26,  and other family members had decorated it with balloons and ribbons, and the license plate read "JUST WED."

But they weren't just like any couple. Security in a Range Rover followed behind, and they were shadowed by a royal helicopter flown by members of William's squadron.

"It was Prince William's idea to drive his new bride away from the official reception on their first journey as a married couple to his family home," a St. James' Palace spokesman told the Belfast Telegraph.
