  Having parents that are stable and love each other is more important then marriage. My husband and I were married in 2004 but have been together since 98. We had our daughter in 2001. Being the daughter of a divorce lawyer I've seen families ripped apart by divorce. Being married now I can say much has changed and women seem to give up a lot of their identity. I believe in commitment, loyalty and monogamy when in any relationship. A ring and a paper don't change that but they seem to tweak something in peoples heads that says you are owned. Might I point out too that a ring and paper don't stop someone from adultery either (which was one of the reasons to get married that my mother in law gave me). If I had to do it again I would have saved the wedding money for something better. I was committed in my promise to my husband and didn't need the symbols to prove that, it was a waste of money, time and now the government and everyone else looks at me like chattel. Love, loyalty, honesty and communication...make those commitments and make them true. That's important. I must say if my marriage ever fails I'm never going to marry again, its overrated.

  While a child is always a welcome blessing, it would be nice to see a return to couples having a wedding and then a baby. I am sorry if others do not like to hear that view point, but just as you are entitled to your opinion here, so are those of us who feel that being married is a sacred union and the best lifestyle for a child to be born into. On a side note I would like to add that anyone who thinks that putting a name on an opinion gives it legitimacy might want to consider that you can make up any name and post here. How do you know that is their real name? Also, name calling and profanity directed at those who disagree with you only distracts from the point of your opinion and directs it to the name calling or foul language, just some things to think on.

  I just rented 'Joan of Arc' on DVD starring Sobieski and loved her performance! Wondered where she'd been all these years. As for those of you who criticize her for being pregnant out of wedlock, she could have had an abortion. Oh, but, then you'd having nothing to talk about. If you're pro-life, keep quiet.

  Since when did Overpaid actors actresses and celebrities become our rolemodels. I could understand a few of them are to inspire. But honestly role models. shouldnt that be Teachers, parents, fireman, soem everyday people that still have a sense of whats right and wrong. But then the world has changed soo much. Try to think back to the time when things were simple and alot more enjoyable, no playstation, Virtual reality sports instead of actually going outside to those things we call parks. Or some of you have never been exposed to real beauty of life, jsu tstuck at home in front of tv and dvds not eating around the dinner table or family nite. Oh well the world is going to poo. slowy its sad

  Wow you shallow people who think that people need to be married first to concive a child need to wake up and smell the coffee we live int the 21st century not the fourties. I am far from trashy and My boy friend and I have been together for six years and have a two year old son who is wonderful and very well mannered not to mention very smart, weddings cost alot of money! Most important thing is for the child to have a stable environment with love and support they could care less about a ring on mommy's finger and a marriage licence.

  It really shouldn't matter if a couple is married or not. My cousin and his girlfriend have been together for around 20 years. They have three beautiful, smart, and well-behaved kids. It does not take marriage to raise responsible, well adjusted and well behaved kids. There are many married couple who are horrible parents. It really is not another person's business as to whether a couple is married or not. Some people should not be so judgemental.

  Celebrities are supposed to be role models to our children. I am tired of seeing stories of these girls getting preg before marriage. Have they not heard of birth control?? What message are they sending to our girls? Hey it is ok to go and get knocked up before marriage when we are trying to teach them to find someone, fall in love, get married and have children.

  Do people not make get married first then have a baby? I'm seriously if you can't commit to marriage how can you think you can commit to having a child? Bringing another life into this world is a much bigger commitment than getting married. Marriage is east compared to having a kid.
