Melissa Rycroft is pregnant, the new issue of Us Weekly reports exclusively!
"It was a shock. We weren't even trying," says Rycroft Strickland, who capped off an emotional 2009 -- in which she was publicly dumped on The Bachelor before rebounding with a triumphant turn on Dancing With the Stars -- with her December wedding to insurance agent Tye Strickland.

"It's the most wonderful surprise in the world," adds Rycroft Strickland, who is due in February. "It's such a blessing."
Now cohost of ABC's Bachelor Pad (which debuts Aug. 9), Rycroft Strickland, 27, tells Us starting a family was the last thing on her mind: "He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, 'No, not ready!'"
While the big news is still sinking in, Rycroft Strickland says her solid relationship with her man, 29, has helped her stay calm -- and she can't imagine having a child with anyone else.

"He's actually cried more than I have," she tells Us. "Tye is caring, he's funny. He's going to be a great dad."
Rycroft Strickland -- who just bought a new home near Dallas with her husband -- says she's hoping for a boy, and he wants a girl. "We're going to find out as soon as we can," she says.
In the meantime, the host jokes that she's "eating everything in sight" and craving no-nos like sushi and sub sandwiches.

"Knowing me, I'm going to swell and gain 90 pounds," she says. "But it's not about me anymore!"

My heart ached for Melissa after the terrible things Mr. Mesnick did to her on live tv. It just goes to show that God was faithful to Melissa blessing her with a righteous man Ty and now the new baby on the way. With God all things are possible. John 3:16 -

I didn't like Melissa from the start. She seemed fake and her smile looks like she is going to eat me or something. People from the Bachellor are not celebrities, nor will they ever be. Get over yourselves!! -

Negativity? Why are so many sappy like they personally know her? I'm stating that this is a woman who went on a dating show to just find her true love, and now is married to someone else and takes every Hollywood job that comes her way. She is fake. Now, if she went home married the man of her dreams and stopped stretching her 15 minutes then more people would like her. I for one am tired of "celebrities" from reality shows who really have no talent, but make big bucks. At least the dr. bachelor with the medical show is using his real job for good. Check out Bach Pad that's coming on and you'll see the "talent" of people who come on these shows. Fame goes to their heads.Maybe she'll quit Hollywood and be the teacher she said she wanted to be-or was that a lie. Most teachers I know would not give it up to turn Hollywood-it's not their nature. -

ChickMama, you are soooo right. Birth control isn't 100% effective! It is only 99.7% effective, IF taken correctly. So remember, being a lamo who doesn't know how to follow directions is NOT the same thing as being a part of the very rare and I guess thus, super duper special .3% of the population who Birth Control magically doesn't work for. So, yes while it can happen, the likelihood that you know that many people whose Birth Control "failed", is slim to none. Apparently you just know a lot of people who don't know how to follow directions. But I do like how people LOVE to take responsibility off of their own careless actions, and just blame the pill and/or condom for something that they are actually 100% responsible for. :-) -

Wow, so much negativity here. I still don't understand why people who don't like a particular person/article insist on leaving negative, nasty comments. That's just hurtful & immature. Those of you being so ugly need to remember that the energy you put out into the world comes right back to you 3-fold. Melissa will continue to live a happy life because she is a positive, good person. All you haters are doomed to be a target of your own negativity. In other words, If you can't say anything nice about someone then just don't say anything at all! To those criticizing them for not using birth control, remember that birth control is not 100%. I've known quite a few women who have gotten pregnant while on the pill! Congrats Melissa & Tye! I wish you nothing but the best; a happy, healthy baby, an uneventful pregnancy, & that you don't ever have to read or hear about the losers who love to come on these sites & trash everyone & everything just because they are so immature & miserable in their own lives. -

It can't have been that big of a shock - "we weren't even trying" isn't the same thing as "we were fully protected". She's a fully grown woman, I'm sure she knows how babies are made! If they specifically didn't want any, they should have been better about preventative methods. If they just thought that kids just magically wouldn't come until they were ready for them, then.. -
