Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell Diagnosed With Swine Flu

The Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell has been diagnosed with swine flu, Usmagazine.com confirms.

The other three members -- Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean -- have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms. As a preventative measure, the band's doctor has prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the states from Tokyo.

Due to Littrell's illness, the Backstreet Boys cancelled their scheduled Monday appearance at the Pinktober Hard Rock Cafe signing in New York City. They will also cancel their performance on CBS' Early Show Tuesday morning. (The rest of their schedule this week has not yet been determined.)

"We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of Pinktober, an unbelievable and important program" Littrell, 34, said in a statement to Us. "I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help."
The news comes one day before the release of their new album, This Is Us, which goes on sale Tuesday.

This post is for 5:27 pm. Brian Littrell has a heart condition and has had to have surgery because of it. He was not given Tamiflu just beacause he is famous. My son and daughter was diagnosed yesterday with H1N1 and my son was given Tamiflu because he has asthma, but my daughter was not because she is healthy. -

i went to walgreen for a flu shot, but this is for common flu only. i read a news about a swine flu vaccine takes time to distribute..its just not still available yet to all of us. its just scarely. people die from any reason, but i dont wabt to die from this. i travel all the time, go to airport etc.. i gotta wear mask seriously!!! -

I wouldn't take tamiflu. Japan has researched why it is bad after children had bad reactions. Def wouldn't give it to any children. Rest and plenty of fluids! -
