Angelina Jolie's Driver Hits Motorbike

A car carrying Angelina Jolie peeled away from a traffic signal, reportedly in an effort to avoid photographers, and hit a man on a motorbike Wednesday, reports E! via NBC News.
 
Police confirmed to NBC that 19-year-old Mittal Rawat was hit by the vehicle while Jolie was riding in the car, reading the book Crimes of War: What the Public Should Know. The bruised but seemingly unhurt teenager was the one who pointed out that the actress' driver was looking to escape some enthusiastic paparazzi.
 
This is Brangelina’s second incident involving paparazzi in the last week. On October 7, while the couple were leaving the Le Meridien Pune hotel, their long-time bodyguard Mickey Brett confronted a crowd of photographers outside, grabbing the neck of British photographer Sam Relph, an act that was caught on camera.
 
“He said if I took pictures, he would kill me,” a rattled Relph told India’s Hindustan Times. “He had his fingers on my windpipe and he knew what he was doing. I couldn’t breathe.”
 
Jolie and Brad Pitt are in Pune, India, filming A Mighty Heart, a biopic about Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was killed at the hands of terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. Jolie plays Pearl's widow, Mariane, and Pitt is producing.
 
The civic-minded couple donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation on Tuesday, which would have been the journalist's 43rd birthday.

The reason that Angelina and Brad look possibily "Not as good as they used to" is because they have 3 children they are raising, plus doing movies, plus raising money for charities around the world, plus Angelina is a UN Ambassador the the United States and Brad has a Production company, not to mention he is building homes in New Orleans for Katrina victims and working on designs for Hotels and Restaurants in New York and Las Vegas I believe. The reason for the car crash is easy to see, she was slowing down for the press to photograph her holding a book (cause we all hold a book up like that to read -not). She is so fake, but I love to come to these sites cause her fans are so simple and obviously VERY naive.

Here is a FACT:
Your confusion over the 1/3rd donation is because it is impossible to say exactly how much one donates.
For example - one of Jolie's donations was 5 million to a Cambodian organization, however it was revealed the way she is donatating it is 5 million is in the bank and the interest ONLY is being donated over several years to make it 5 million. This way she has a little each year to say she donated and claim on her taxes. That's the same reason for the charity they set up, they keep the money in the bank under the organization's name and then dole it out as they see fit.
Why not give to already set up organizations and save on administration costs? It isn't for publicity as everyone is saying, or to make up for not giving the total amounts promised other organizations, it is because she can then write off all lot more including her private airplane trips, she can even buy a plane with that money and say it's for charity only.
It isn't that some stars don't talk about thier giving and some do - it's that most are smart enough to know you can't qoute your exact amount accurately, especially with a fluctuation income.
Jolie is dumb and fake - open your eyes and face it.

LATEST: ANGELINA JOLIE was not a passenger in the car which hit a teenage biker in Pune, India on Wednesday (11OCT06). Student MITTAL RAWAT was knocked off his motorbike when a Toyota Qualis collided with him before fleeing the scene.

Police are investigating the driver of the vehicle, which was originally thought to be carrying Jolie in the backseat. Following the incident, local officials have decided to step up security measures surrounding Jolie and boyfriend BRAD PITT, who are currently filming A MIGHTY HEART in the region.

Pitt is producing the film adaptation of A Mighty Heart, which stars Jolie as the book's author MARIANE PEARL, whose husband DANIEL PEARL was killed by Islamic extremists in Pakistan four years ago (02). Police officer RS KHAIRE says, "We have increased the security for Ms Jolie to see that incidents like this do not happen again. We are not taking this incident lightly." ARTI SURENDRANATH of Kailash Picture Company, who are managing the movie's shooting schedule, insisted

Jolie was not in the vehicle during the time of the hit-and-run accident, but added, "It's a small incident which has been blown out of proportion."

The Pitts: No Fishy Philanthropy

A few days ago, Radar Online printed a story about the Chosen Family's suspect Namibian donation. I referenced the article on Wednesday with information from sources of my own, sources who were skeptical about the piece and who advised caution before accusing the Pitts of reneging on their philanthropic obligations - serious allegations, non?

At the urging of a few readers, I contacted Ivanna Iafigliola-Kriner, co-founder of the DRC School Project & Community Centre, the very school that the Pitts are alleged to have stiffed in the Radar article. I asked Ms Kriner the following: I have heard from many of my readers indicating that you have refuted the Radar Online claims and I am writing to find out from you directly if the US$15,000 was received by the DRC.

Ms Kriner: Yes we did receive the donation and are very grateful to Angelina and Brad for their support.

Point of the story?

The Pitts aren't cheap. They didn't bail on Namibia. But in a country where the need is so great and only so much can be pledged, it's entirely understandable for other organisations to try to reach out as much as they can.

I think the 1/3 donation amount was never confirmed by her until the Anderson Cooper interview over the summer. I think he asked her then, but I can't remember the exact question. It was always Angelina's income that was mentioned as the base amount for the donations, not Brad's, so Brad's income has nothing to do with it. She's been doing this since before he was in the picture. I'm sure their incomes are separate. It's not a "they" thing, never has been. I don't think that Angelina has mostly been in the 15-20 million dollar range either. Lately, since MAMS, but not before. Donors have the option of keeping donations anonymous so I am sure that many many celebs give and do not announce it. And if they choose to give anonymously the charity that receives the donation cannot tell the media that the received it from Joe Celebrity.

She did donate 1/3 of one of her movies...can't remember which one. I actually enjoyed her a lot before BP. Loved Gia, tomb raider movies, loved a newer one with Ethan Hawke, crap can't remember the name. Now she's only in the news for her personal life and it makes it difficult for me to watch a movie with either of them objectively. I wish they could all be a little more anonymous (wishful thinking of course).

I've been trying to research where the 1/3 of her income figure came from but I can't find it. I don't know if she said it or if it's some kind of urban legend. I don't think anyone will know for sure, unless we find some way to audit her finances! I never really paid attention to her much before she was with Brad. I mean, I knew she was in Tomb Raider and that a lot of my guy friends thought she was hot. But I'm a Brad fan through and through. Now I know things like her involvement with the U.N. humanitarian causes, and adopted Maddox before she hooked up with Brad. There wasn't that much buzz about it because she wasn't with him. Now everything she does is scrutinized (reading a book,c'mon!) I wonder how many of us could withstand this kind of invasion?

And just as devil's advocate to everyone who think Brad and Angelina donate so much money to various organizations. Yes, I applaud their donations and the fact AJ travels to less fortunate areas of the world and brings attention to these areas, however if we do the math at 15-20 million a flick, approx 3 flicks a year a piece, if they donate a total of 2 million a year (I don't know exact amounts as I'm certain some of you do) this works out to if I say they make $90 million just in movies (low end estimate) not counting any other endorsements, etc. this works out to .02% of their yearly household income. My household income is approximately 200,000 so if I were to donate $4000 a year this would put me on the same philanthropic scale as them as opposed to Bill Gates who has donated BILLIONS of dollars. Just a little perspective folks. I'm grateful to her, but practical as well.

Hi all, I posted on this yesterday afternoon for awhile and am shocked by the turn it's taken. Things that happen to JA and things that happen to AJ are two separate and different events. If you love either of them (which I'm thankfully neutral), you're doing them a major injustice by always bringing up their counterpart. I'm sure both would rather forget the other one even exists. As I also said yesterday, a motorbike accident in India is NOT newsworthy. There are like a billion in a minute over there. My husband is from India and both he, his father and his brother have been in multiple motorbike/scooter accidents...this is part of driving in India. Let's respect each other's opinions and present your sides in a respectful manner. If you can do this, you might be able to sway someone to your way of thinking. If you call me names, I'm just gonna get p*ssed and never see your side.

As for this accident - it made me almost sick seeing the tape of Angie, Brad and Maddox being chased down by photographers a few days ago. These paparazzis were literarly endangering the safety of everyone on that road: themselves, their celebrity targets and other drivers with their reckless behavior. It reminded me so much of Princess Diana's death. And although the details about her accident remain unclear, what is certain is that photographers arrived at the scene of the crash not to help her but to take photos of her body inside the car. These people are little more than professional stalkers.
And as for Brangelina, I have always liked Angie. I read today that she has made over 30 trips in her capacity as a UN Ambassador, and was voted humanitarian of the year by the organization in 2003, well before the Jen and Brad scandal. I truly belive she is sincere in her efforts, and I admire her for trying to do something for the world. The people who say she should be spending more time contributing the US have a point, I guess. But I think it's not for us to criticize where someone else's priorities lie, and what interests someone else has. Rather, if we believe things are bad here, to try and do something to correct the suffering wherever we see it and where it touches us.

THATS RIGHT! Angelina Jolie wasn't even in the car, and the pix of her reading were taken and released a a different time. The police in that town had no idea of the nature of paparazzis that follow this family, there has been incident after incident since their arrival and it took something like this for them to do what they should have been doing all along. When a city woos a production company to film there and bring in revenue and fame, they should be prepared to take whatever steps necessary to insure the safety of it's guests and citizens. Boston was more than cooperative with the filming of the Departed.India wants to be a player in the international film arena but doesn't want to make the effort to protect celebrities.

I don't come on here to give out misinformation. But I do have a side of me that cracks wise sometimes. I especially get that way when confronted by JA fans because the are so prevalent on B & A messageboards. But now all that "Holie, fishlip," hysteria is just so over. Even Jennifer fans (sane ones) have given it up. And to further engage the others is so tempting but so futile.

I don't see what Aniston has to do with any of this and I'm sure she wouldn't either (unless she is delusional or stalking her ex, and I doubt that) so it's sad that people have to bring her name up. Those same people are the ones who cross the line typically on entertainment blogs and give the tabloids reason to continually plaster the three people together. As long as that happens Aniston will not be able to have an acting career flourish more so than now because she will forever be associated with Pitt and Jolie. Pitt and Jolie are more established than she is (in movies) and will not suffer as she will (in movies). All the fault of the fans clamoring to group them together still. If they didn't demand it, the tabloids wouldn't print it.

Anon 11:01 is right. Not to mention that not one reputable media outlet has been able to prove that Jolie does not back up what is said about her: that she gives 1/3 of her income and knows what she talks about. Don't you think they have looked into that? And don't you think that it would be all over the TV if they could? How is it that people can so easily believe that these magazines can report on private telephone calls and emails and feelings and yet they can't do basic investigative reporting on donations? The paparazzi are so slimy that they would jump all over that and the entertainment shows are not far behind. For crying out loud some of them even help the stalkers of stars get in touch with the people they are obsessed with. But many here on this site have expressed an obvious lack of empathy for those who have to fear a random person harassing them so why would that dissuade them from blaming people they dislike?

The picture of Angie was taken before the accident. If I don`t have a table to lean on, I always hold the book up that high. Most people do. Anderson Cooper as well as many others who have worked closely with Humanitarians, have all said that Angie is very well educated in the UN, as well as in many of the countries she helps in. I think Anderson Cooper would know better than the people who dislike her. I haven`t been to this site in awhile, the last time I was here someone made the comment about Brad and Angie never give the money they promise to charities. This time it is Namibia, last time it was something else. These are just rumors started by people who dislike them. It is the work of a mean, vindictive, childish person. Brad alone is said to be worth over 250 million dollars. I don`t know how much Angie is worth. Yes, it is a tax deduction, and no that is not why they do it. Angie is the most sought after celebrity because she is with Brad. Prior to her hooking Up with Brad her humanitarian work went unoticed except by her fans. This is what made me like her. I read an article in a news magazine by a person who had worked side by side with Angelina in Afica. Angelina would work in her bare feet and in the hot african sun, without any electricity just like every aid worker did for weeks at a time. With that kind of money she did not have to. She has always been so gracious with the paparazzi, but that was before they made life very hard for her. Two dozen photogropher started taking her picture when the driver stopped because of the accident. The paparazzi got their pics and didn`t care they caused an accident. I heard a british photographer say it was a papaprazzi car that hit the motorcyle. I don`t know if that is true or not. He also said the photographers were pulling knives out on each other because Some had cars and got to the accident before others. I can`t believe that some of you really believe that anyone would want this kind of attention.

You know it's irritating that MORE people can't see this for what it is! Wow...love her overwhelming concern for someone her staff may have injured. It was really nice of her to look up from her book long enough to ask the motorist if he was okay. I guess unless she's getting a cover story for US, People or Vanity Fair, she cares very little about her fellow man.

Her indifference towards that man disturbs me, since she claims to care so much about humanity. She wasn't even phased that someone could be injured on the other side of her window! I hope people remember this image next time she chats up her one of her "causes".
