Britney Spears

Britney Spears Bio Bio

Born to Southern Baptists in Louisiana, the former Mickey Mouse Club star was the first of her generation of teen pop stars, defining an era in which Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore and Avril Lavigne were soon to follow. Once, Spears was a diva worth drooling over back in her "Baby One More Time" days. Now, Spears has two kids with her ex-husband Kevin Federline and headlines involving Britney are no longer associated with her talent. Rather, they report of psychotic behaviors, drug use, and mistreatment of her children. The latest news relating to the Britney saga: On March 24, a judge rejected an attorney's bid to remove Spears' father Jaime as her co-conservator.

Britney Spears in Love Love

When her booming pop career took off in the late 90's, Spears spent a lot of time touring with boy band *NSYNC. This led to her four-year relationship with *NSYNC front man Justin Timberlake. After their breakup, Spears had a bizarre 55-hour marriage to her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas. Then she met Kevin Federline in a Hollywood club, and their quick marriage combined with trashy behavior killed the singer's sex appeal. Their first child, Sean Preston, often seen mishandled in photographs, was recently named "Worst Dressed Man in the World" by Esquire magazine. The couple's second child, Jayden James, was born in September 2006, and Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November 2006. Since her split, Spears has been spotted around town with numerous men, ranging from models to random college undergraduates. She dated model Isaac Cohen, was romantically linked to her bodyguard Damien, who famously saved her son Sean from being dropped by her in May 2006, was spotted getting cozy with illusionist Criss Angel, and, most recently, has been seen around town with Adnan Ghalib, a paparazzi photographer who regularly covers this troubled star.

Britney Spears's Career Career

Spears’s first album, Baby One More Time went 14x platinum in the U.S. and earned the then 17-year-old two Grammy nominations. Her next albums, Oops I Did It Again! and Britney, sold hugely as well, pushing Spears to attempt a career in film acting. Her debut role was in the movie Crossroads, out in 2002, which saw disappointing returns at the box office. Also in 2002, she opened her own restaurant, NYLA in New York City, prompting Forbes magazine to name her one of the most powerful celebrities in the world. After her split from Justin Timberlake, however, her career began to decline, culminating with two pregnancies and a hiatus from music. In 2005, Spears and Kevin Federline made the decision to air a reality TV-show based on their relationship, aptly named Chaotic, which was canceled after only a few episodes. As if that weren’t enough, in 2006, a video hit the Internet of Spears and Federline, portraying Spears in an awful light, making her seem remarkably unintelligent. She received a ton of bad press in early 2007 with her bizarre antics, like shaving her head and going to rehab. Most recently, she has been ridiculed for being a bad mother, doing things like feeding her children junk food and depriving them of naps. A new single, “Gimme More,” marks Spears’s self-proclaimed comeback. On September 9, 2007 a scantily dressed Spears took the stage at the Video Music Awards in a poorly received performance that did little to recover her once-unstoppable career. The release of her album Blackout, however, redeemed the pop princess’s reputation. Critics called it her comeback album. Blackout, released on October 30, 2007, reached number 2 on the Billboard 200. In March 2008, Spears released an entirely animated music video for her single "Break the Ice." On March 24, she guest starred on the CBS primetime sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Her performance as a dorky receptionist was well received by critics, and there are rumors circulating of a reoccurring role on the show. However, a source close to the pop star tells Us: "Nothing is signed yet."
