Celebrity Splits of 2026: Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple, More Stars Who Broke Up This Year

A slew of breakups rocked the celebrity world throughout 2026, beginning with Bill Hader and Ali Wong in January.

In May, a rep for Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen confirmed to Us that the couple had split after 18 years of marriage. In June, Us confirmed Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater had broken up after nearly three years of dating. Later, actress Courtney Cox and Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid called it quits after more than a decade together.

The following month, news broke that Matt Rogers and Below Deck’s Fraser Olender had split nearly eight months after confirming their romance.

In September, Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski revealed that they called it quits after nine years of marriage.

In October, The Golden Bachelor's Mel Owens and Peg Munson ended their relationship nearly a year after their final rose ceremony aired in season 2. Chrishell Stause also revealed that she and G Flip split after three years of marriage.

Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple

Two years after getting engaged on The Golden Bachelorette, Vassos and Chapple announced their split.

“Two years ago, Chock and I took a leap of faith and got engaged during our season of The Golden Bachelorette, hoping we had found our forever," Vassos wrote via her Instagram Story. “We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story, sharing our families, amazing adventures, laughter, and supporting each other through challenging times.”

She continued: “Sadly, our journey hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped and we have decided to end our engagement. We truly want each other to be happy, and I’m grateful for the chapter we shared.”

Jennifer Affleck and Zac Affleck

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jennifer Affleck, who is pregnant with her fourth baby, filed for divorce from husband Zac in Utah on November 3, according to court docs obtained by TMZ. She also submitted a proposed parenting plan, though the details are private, according to the outlet. Us reached out to reps for the pair for comment.

Chrishell Stause and G Flip

Chrishell Stause announced on October 26 that she and partner G Flip “are no longer together.” The couple were married three years before they broke up.

“We have agreed to treat this public separation with love and respect for each other. That's not hard for me because I am in love with this person,” Stause said in an Instagram video. “I don't have all the information or the reasons. I'm sure just as always with time you get the lessons you're meant to get.”

She added, “I just have to kinda heal and figure this out. It's hard. It's painful. I'm a lover girl. I swing big. I miss.”

Mel Owens and Peg Munson

The Golden Bachelor star Peg Munson announced on October 21 that she'd recently made "the difficult decision to step away" from her relationship with Mel Owens. (Season 2 of the ABC reality show ended with Owens presenting Munson with a 3.5-carat diamond “commitment” ring instead of proposing marriage.)

"Sometimes even when there’s love, it just doesn’t turn out the way we hoped," she shared via Instagram. "Right now, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and focusing on myself, my health and looking forward to the next chapter. I really do just wish Mel the best of luck and I’m very grateful for the experience."

Munson assured Bachelor Nation that her breakup with Owens was simply “the beginning of a new chapter" in her life.

"I really want to thank everybody for being on this journey with me for the past year,” she went on to say. “I’m really sorry that I haven’t spoken out sooner but it’s been a really difficult 30 days for me. As a lot of you guys know, I went on The Golden Bachelor hoping to find love and I did. For that, I’m grateful.”

Owens did not initially make any comment on his split from Munson.

Mike Wolfe and Leticia Cline

American Pickers star Mike Wolfe and girlfriend Leticia Cline split in October after seven years together. 

“For the past two months, I’ve been trying to come to terms with things that have left me absolutely devastated. While the world continues to see one version of someone, I’ve been living with a very different reality,” Cline wrote via her Instagram Stories. “There is so much I have kept private over the past 10 years. Things I witnessed, things I experienced, and things I stayed silent about because I loved someone and believed I was protecting him.”

Cline added that she now realizes “how much that silence has cost me.”

“I have a great deal to say, and there are reasons I’ve remained quiet for so long,” she continued. “What I will say is that the person the public knows and the person I knew behind closed doors are not the same.”

Cline concluded, “I need time to process everything and decide how to move forward. But I will no longer protect a narrative at the expense of my own truth.”

Love Is Blind UK stars Nicole and Benaiah Grunewald announced their split after three years of marriage.

“When I said ‘I do,’ I never imagined I would one day be sharing this,” Nicole wrote via her Instagram Story on October 12. “For those who have followed and supported our journey, I wanted to let you know that Ben and I have separated. Teen Mom’s Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge announced their breakup after nine years together.

“Taylor and I have decided to go our separate ways, as hard as that is to say publicly, I think it’s important to be honest about where my life is at this moment,” Cory wrote via Instagram on October 8. “I’m sorry, Taylor, that things didn’t work out the way we both hoped they would. I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down.”

In a separate post, Taylor wrote, “Yes I left. I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for 9 years and the father of my two children. I’m sure everyone could tell the last few years. I deserve more than that and I’ll get it. End of story.”

Us confirmed on April 25 that Megan Thee Stallion and NBA star Klay Thompson called it quits after nearly one year together.

"I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” Megan said in a statement. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”

Haylie Duff’s spokesperson confirmed to TMZ on April 20 that she and former fiancé Matt Rosenberg recently called off their engagement and are no longer together. Duff asked fans for privacy in the wake of her breakup.

Duff and Rosenberg welcomed daughters Ryan, 10, and Lulu, 7, during their 14-year relationship.

Us Weekly obtained court documents on April 20 showing that Tim Leissner filed for divorce in a Los Angeles Superior Court in February, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for his split from Kimora Lee Simmons.

Leissner sought spousal support from Simmons and asked the court to block his estranged wife from receiving any support from him. He also requested that Simmons pay his legal fees.

Us reached out to Simmons’ representative for comment.

In February, Leissner began serving a two-year prison sentence for conspiring to launder money and conspiring to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The Justice Department accused Leissner of involvement in a money-laundering scheme regarding the Malaysian government’s state-owned investment and development fund, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Britani Bateman announced her split from on-again, off-again boyfriend Jared Osmond on February 9. Bateman shared a video montage of her happier times with Osmond while confirming their breakup.

Osmond exclusively told Us at the time that he’ll love Bateman “forever,” but he was “alarmed” to see her video tribute about the end of their relationship.

“I want to bless her life. I want to love her and grow old with her and be a man that is there for her and her family, and this is very heartbreaking to see yet again her run and due largely because of fear,” he added. “She really has been my best friend, and it’s confusing. But I love her and wish her nothing but the best.”

Us Weekly confirmed on January 10 that TikTok star Kristy Scott filed for divorce from her husband, Desmond Scott, on December 30, 2025, after almost 12 years of marriage. The documents specified that there was no hope of reconciliation and that the former couple “will soon stop living together as husband and wife.” (TMZ reported that Kristy cited alleged infidelity as the reason for their split. Desmond and Kristy share two sons: Vance and Westin.)

Desmond broke his silence later that same day when he admitted via Instagram that he’d made “choices that I am not proud of” while working through the split.

“I want to begin by apologizing to Kristy, our family, and everyone who has been impacted by the public attention surrounding this situation,” Desmond wrote via his Instagram Story. “I know this news has been disappointing for many, and I’m truly sorry for the hurt it has caused.”

He continued, “Kristy is the mother of my children, and that will always come first. I remain fully committed to being an active, present, and loving parent to our boys, as I have always been.”

Kristy and Desmond met when they were teenagers and got married in 2014. Although they frequently appeared on each other’s social media over the years, Kristy last posted content with Desmond in December 2025.

The RHONY alum announced on her “I Do Part 2” podcast in October 2025 that she’d recently started a “private” romance with “a wildly kind, very thoughtful girl dad.” However, Kelly Bensimon used the same forum on January 8 to reveal that she ended the relationship because her partner couldn’t “show up” when she needed him.

“I have a lot of bandwidth, and then, sometimes I just snap. I had some health issues last year, and I was going through a lot of things personally,” Bensimon confided in her listeners. “It really made me see what I wanted in my romantic life, and how I wanted to navigate that and move forward into 2026.”

People reported on January 7 that the former Saturday Night Live cast member and the Emmy Award-winning comic were going their separate ways. An insider told the publication that Bill Hader and Ali Wong had trouble making their relationship a priority because of their very busy schedules.

This was not the first time the former couple separated. Hader and Wong were previously together in 2022 but pressed pause on their relationship that December.
