In the picture, the Red Sonja actress cradles the newborn in her arms as she rests in bed surrounded by balloons and flowers. Nielsen captioned the snap: “Our precious little Frida, our true love.”

The Surreal Life alum and her husband of nearly 12 years, Mattia Dessi, 39, welcomed their first child together on June 22. Nielsen is also mom of sons Julian, 34, Killian, 28, Douglas, 25 and Raoul, 23, from previous marriages.

Nielsen and Italian model Dessi dreamed of expanding their family, but the former Playboy model acknowledged it might be difficult to conceive because of her age. “Mattia and I have discussed it, but I don’t know how likely it is,” she told The Guardian in 2011. “And to interfere with things just because I feel as if I could give more to a child than I did when I was 20 — is that too selfish? I don’t know.”

The Danish actress, who has been open about her battles with alcohol addition, entered rehab in 2007 and appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew the following year.

“I’ve been a bad mum at times, when you take the bottle over your kids, you’re a bud mum,” she told Hello! magazine in 2008. “But I love them and there has always been a close bond. I’ve been affecting, caring. It’s unfortunate that they’ve seen me in a bad way. But kids are great, they’re the most unconditional, forgiving people.”

Nielsen and Dessi announced they were expecting a baby in May, one month before she gave birth.
