Bringing Up Bates alums Zach and Whitney Bates have added a new family member to their brood.
“One of the sweetest birth experiences I’ve had, filled with moments that I will relive a million times 😭💕🥹,” Whitney, 32, wrote via Instagram on Monday, April 27, alongside a video of Zach, 37, helping to deliver their sixth baby.
Whitney continued, “Nothing in this world compares to that first moment holding your new baby, and from my very first birth when Dr. Vick helped him with Bradley, this has been one of the most precious, overwhelming and unforgettable experiences of my births, every single time. Dr Martin and her staff made every moment so special and we cannot thank them and Fort Sanders hospital enough for all of the work they did to make this birth so amazing!!!”
Zach and Whitney — who have been married since December 2013 — previously welcomed Bradley in October 2014, Kaci in June 2016, Khloé in November 2019, Jadon in June 2021 and Lily in August 2023.
The couple announced in September 2025 that they were expecting their sixth baby.
“Ya know what they say … One’s company, two’s a crowd, three’s a party, four’s a circus, five’s a team and six is a whole squad!!!” they wrote in an Instagram video at the time.
The cute compilation showed each of Zach and Whitney’s kids joining them one by one before she unveiled ultrasound images.
In the caption, the pair teased Whitney’s due date with the hint, “COMING SPRING 2026.”
Later that month, Whitney revealed that Zach actually realized she was pregnant before she did.
“POV: telling your husband your [sic] pregnant even though he’s been saying it for days,” she wrote over an Instagram video of the funny moment.
In the clip, Zach told Whitney he initially suspected she was expecting because she’d been “so tired” and had a “glow” as of late.
“You don’t need to show me,” he said of her positive pregnancy test. “Just give me a hug.”
Whitney, meanwhile, was skeptical about Zach’s instincts until she saw the results for herself.
“It’s the fact he told me for days and I didn’t believe him … 😂,” she captioned the post. “I honestly bought the test to prove him wrong, but I’m so glad he was right 🥹😍🍼💫.”
In October 2025, Whitney revealed how she and Zach told their five kids about their sibling on the way.
“Before we shared the news with everyone else, we took Brad and Kaci (the two oldest) out for a little dinner date to tell them about baby No. 6 first. ❤️,” she wrote via Instagram. “They’ve always wanted to go to the special steakhouse where Zach and I have our date nights, so that’s where we went!! They had been asking for months if we would ever have another baby, and getting to tell them after a fun dinner together felt so special to us! And letting them help us surprise the younger three at home is a memory we’ll never forget! 🥲✨.”
The following month, Whitney announced she was having a girl. To discover the sex of the baby, the family played cupcake roulette, with only one of the kids finding pink icing in the middle of a sweet treat.
“We’ve done this a few times now, but it still feels just as special every single time 🥹💕 Watching the kids’ faces, hearing their guesses and feeling that same rush of excitement the second we saw the color is the kind of moment that never loses its magic ✨,” Whitney gushed via Instagram. “We love you so much, baby girl, and can’t wait to meet you 🫶🏼.”
