Carli Lloyd and her husband, Brian Hollins, have added a new family member with the birth of their second baby.
The United States women’s national soccer team alum, 44, and the golfer, 42, announced on Monday, September 28, that they welcomed a son named Hunter Jax four days prior.
“Our hearts have never been fuller. 🤍 Welcome to the world, our sweet baby boy 💙,” Lloyd wrote via Instagram with photos of her newborn. “It wasn’t the easiest delivery, which makes us even more grateful for the best team of Doctors, nurses and everyone else who took such amazing care of us throughout this pregnancy. @mcobgyns @virtuahealth, Dr. McCrosson, Dr. McCullen, Erica O’Learly, Dr. Zender, Jordan. Thank you for the best care!!”
In her social media post, the athlete confirmed everyone is home, snuggling and “adjusting to life as a family of four — especially with our 2-year-old learning her new role as big sister 🥹🤍.”
“These days are a little crazy, a little sleepless, but incredibly special. We’re feeling beyond grateful to have our baby boy here, safe and loved, and to watch our family grow,” she continued. “Welcome to the family, little man. We love you more than words can say 💙.”
Lloyd and Hollins tied the knot in November 2016 after nearly two decades together. The high school sweethearts previously welcomed daughter Harper in October 2024.
Less than two years later, Lloyd announced in April that she was pregnant and expecting baby No. 2 with Hollins.

“Our family is growing, and we couldn’t be more grateful! 🤍,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “We’re soaking in every bit of gratitude, love and excitement as we prepare to welcome another little miracle into our lives. Being blessed with another baby still feels hard to believe, and our hearts are so full. 💖. Baby #2 coming September 2026! #familyoffour #ivfjourney #grateful #blessed.”
In the accompanying photos, Harper wore a pink sweater that read “big sister” as her parents showed off sonogram images and Lloyd’s baby bump.
The following month, Lloyd shared an update on her pregnancy journey as she also juggled her work and parenting responsibilities.
“Trying to soak in the little moments while life keeps moving by faster than I can process it!” she noted via Instagram in May. “Toddler days, pregnancy days, work days — all beautiful, exhausting and somehow gone before I even realize it. 🤍.”

In recent years, Lloyd has been forthcoming about her experience with infertility and IVF. She previously revealed in a 2024 Women’s Health essay that she struggled to conceive when she and Hollins began trying for a baby two years earlier.
“I found out that I didn’t know much about this world. I was very naïve to think that we wouldn’t have any issues getting pregnant,” she wrote at the time. “And so it began. The casual whatever happens, happens turned into disappointment month after month. I was starting to feel like this was a race against the clock — my 40-year-old biological clock.”
While Lloyd initially hesitated to pursue IVF after not conceiving naturally, she eventually changed her mind once she consulted a specialist.
“I fought it so much up until this point,” she recalled. “As a woman, I wanted to get pregnant naturally because that’s what our bodies are supposed to be capable of. I felt like my body let me down.”
Lloyd — who also detailed the daunting setbacks of the egg retrieval and embryo transfer process — felt “really ashamed and embarrassed” about undergoing IVF at first, but she ultimately realized “we’re all human and many women are going through similar struggles.”
“There’s a stigma that comes with needing help or needing to go through fertility treatments,” she added. “It isn’t talked about enough, but it’s just a different process to get to the same end goal: becoming a parent.”
