When Us Weekly asked CoCo Austin how her husband Ice-T rates as a dad, she had a rather unusual response.
“He calls children ‘pancakes,’” the 38-year-old model revealed at the Long Island Bulldog Rescue’s Annual Bash on Monday, December 4. “He feels that you screw up the first couple of pancakes in your life and then by the third or fourth you get them right.”
Austin and the Law and Order: Special Victims Unit actor, 59, are parents of 2-year-old daughter Chanel. (He is also the father of Letesha, 41, and son Tracy, 25, from previous relationships.)
Though Ice-T works grueling 14-hour days on the set of the his hit NBC show, he always makes time for Chanel. “When he comes home at night, that’s when they have their moment together,” Austin told Us. “That’s when she sees daddy and he loves on her.”
Austin, who brought Chanel to the event (Ice-T was home sick!) said motherhood is her favorite thing ever. But she had a moment of panic when she became pregnant in 2015. “Everyone came out of the woodwork to say . . . I will never be able to sleep again in my life. I would never be able to live life basically,” she told Us. “They always gave bad advice. I was like . . . Does anyone love motherhood? Everybody just wanted to tell me about the bad sides.”
But Austin is loving every single minute of parenthood. “Chanel is actually saying full sentences,” she gushed. “I don’t even teach her. It kind of just comes naturally. She said ‘delicious.’ That’s a big word. She’s amazing!”
