David Beckham Feels ‘Physically Ill’ Whenever He Has to Leave His Kids

He’s definitely a dad on duty! David Beckham opened up about his feelings toward fatherhood in the April issue of GQ, and the former soccer star made it clear that being a parent is his No. 1 priority these days.

“I get physically ill when I have to leave the kids now,” he said, adding that he often spends his time watching Frozen over and over again with his daughter Harper, 4.

“I’m secure as a person, as a husband, as a dad,” the 40-year-old athlete continued, referring to how he’s settled into life at home since retiring from professional soccer in May 2013. “I’ve gone past the point of really worrying, caring.”

Beckham and his wife, Victoria, are also parents to three boys — Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 13, and Cruz, 11.

Though he’s enjoying the domestic life, the soccer star did note that he misses being on the field on a daily basis.

“I miss soccer every day,” he said. “I don’t know whether it’s the athlete in me, or the passion I have for the game: I always think that I can step back on the field and play. … You know, maybe I could play another year in the U.S. If I was still living in L.A., I’d probably really seriously think about coming back for a year. But we’re living in London, and the kids are happy in the school.”
