When you see a picture of celebrity mom who looks like she has it all together, Eva Amurri Martino wants you to remember this: Famous people get pooped on too.
“At the end of the day, we’re still getting puked on and pooped on,” the 35-year-old actress told Us Weekly. “I have to have makeup on all day to look perfect and then I go home and my kid throws their spaghetti and meatballs on the floor and won’t eat and also pees in the bed and I have to change the sheets at night.”
The Undateable alum and her soccer commentator husband Kyle Martino are parents of Marlowe, 3, and 14-month-old Major. Though Amurri Martino admits going from one kid to two initially “knocked us over,” things got easier for the couple after Major turned 1. But the exhausted parents are still ready for bed at 8 p.m, which is why they do day dates.
“We try to do a date at least once a week that’s daytime,” the Happily Eva After lifestyle blogger tells Us. “Spending time together during the day is easier, so then your time together isn’t competing with sleep. You can truly unwind and relax without worrying, like, ‘Am I going to have to wake up to feed in the baby in two hours?’”
Though Amurri Martino confesses she is still “figuring out” how to keep her six-year marriage hot, she says weekly manicures help. As do hip-hop dance classes. “I just feel that when I’m taking care of myself, I have more energy for my relationship,” she tells Us. “And I think that translates into sexual energy.”
Meanwhile, there’s a rare date night on the horizon. Amurri Martino, who teamed up with StubHub to share her recommendations on creative, last-minute holiday presents, is gifting her husband Hamilton tickets for Christmas. “I wrapped them with an old-fashioned treasure chest and a leather notebook and a pen to evoke the mood of Hamilton,” she says. “It will be a fun way for us to reconnect and have time without our kids!”
