As parents of two young kids, Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur are all about maximizing their date nights. “We like to walk to dinner,” Larter told Us Weekly at the California launch event for the digestion-friendly and natural a2 Milk on Saturday, August 27. “We love to go out and get pasta and a beautiful bottle of wine and just take our time. We don’t want to just rush to a restaurant and rush to eat. It’s really about getting off the clock.”
The mom of Teddy, 5, and Vivienne, 19 months, is also careful to carve out alone time with each child — especially her eldest — to prevent any sibling jealousy. “We have what’s called ‘garbanzo time,’” the Diabolical actress, 40, said. “It’s when Teddy needs special time with Mom, without Dad and without his sister. He’ll just say, ‘Mom, I need some garbanzo time.’ And we’ll go on the swing set or we’ll cook something, or we’ll get on the floor in his bedroom and play with Legos.”
Larter, who stars in the upcoming series Pitch, told Us she sees herself in Teddy, while Vivienne takes after her Angie Tribeca actor dad, who the actress married in 2009.
“Teddy’s like me because we run hot, we definitely have a little temper and it takes us a minute to simmer down,” says the Kitchen Revelry cookbook author. “My daughter is so funny. She giggles at herself, she laughs at everything, and she’s very similar to my husband in that way. Just totally the most fun person to be around.”
