Jamie Foxx was initially hesitant about becoming a father again at 58, but then he shifted his mindset.
“Being my age, I was a little on the fence,” Foxx, 58, admitted to E! News on Thursday, August 20.
However, Foxx saw Al Pacino — who is 86 and welcomed a baby in 2023 — and his perspective changed after their candid conversation. (Pacino shares son Roman with Noor Alfallah. The actor is also a father to daughter Julie, 36, with ex Jan Tarrant and twins Anton and Olivia, 25, with ex Beverly D’Angelo.)
“But then I ran into Al Pacino a few months ago. ‘I said, ‘Al, you gonna be back in the drop-off line?’” he recalled. “I said, aw man, shoot, I’m good.”
Jamie’s daughter Corinne Foxx shared in the same interview that she’s excited to witness this next chapter for her dad and his girlfriend, Alyce Huckstepp. (Jamie shares Corinne, 32, with ex Connie Klein and is also a father to daughter Anelise, 17, with ex Kristin Grannis.)
“I grew up going to set with my dad and watching him work from behind the camera,” she said. “But then to be his coworker and the level of professionalism, but also he’s so light and so funny.”
Corinne, who hosts the Fox game show Beat Shazam alongside her dad, continued, “I just feel like I learned that you don’t have to be so serious to be great at your job. You kind of set the tone for everybody on set, and he does a great job doing that.”
The Django Unchained actor went on to note that his health scare in 2023 led to his desire to experience life to the fullest. (Jamie revealed in 2024 that he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke after experiencing a bad headache.)
“A few years back, I went through something horrible,” he said. “My daughter made sure I got back. Now, seeing that I have a new life and to have my daughters embrace it, that’s all that matters, you know.”
He continued, “This is part of living — having a new life to live and share with is amazing.”
News broke in May that Jamie and Huckstepp are expecting their first child together. The pair were first romantically linked in 2022 but briefly called it quits three years later before rekindling their romance.
