Looks like Jenna Bush Hager wasn't the only one who was excited for their first mother-daughter meet-up — the feeling was mutual! Jenna, 31, called into the Today show on Monday, Apr. 22 to share a funny story about how little Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager arrived two weeks early in a very big way.
"I kind of started sweating, which I guess is a normal thing," she said, explaining that she had been opening gifts at her baby shower when she started to feel uncomfortable, "but then, all of a sudden, in front of all of my friends, my water broke!"
"It was like a romantic comedy," she said with a laugh. Jenna and husband Henry Hager welcomed their first daughter together on Saturday, Apr. 13, in New York City. She is their first daughter together and the first grandchild of former president George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura.
"We're just as happy as can be," she said Monday. "I've learned that you can love somebody in a totally different way."
Jenna, who is currently a correspondent for the Today show, initially announced her happy baby news on-air with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie in December 2012.
"I'm pregnant!" she said at the time, with tears in her eyes. "We're so excited and obviously nervous about it. I'm a first-time mom. But it's something that I've always wanted. I'm a teacher and I love kids."
