As their son Oliver nears his first birthday, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin are pretty much nailing the parenting thing. Though, the Once Upon a Time costars admit to Us Weekly that raising their 10-month-old can sometimes take a village.
“We have help, our mothers, [but Ginnifer] is, literally, the greatest mother I know — she’s a cool mom,” Dallas gushed to Us at the John Varvatos 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit April 26 in L.A.
On hiatus from their ABC series Once Upon a Time, Dallas, 33, and Goodwin, 36, are soaking up all the hang time they can with baby Oliver. “Every day is a milestone,” the new dad told Us. “He can climb the stairs like a ninja . . . hold his own bottle. Every day there’s a milestone that amazes you as a parent.”
One byproduct of new parenthood that Dallas is still warming up to is the lack of sleep involved. “Sleep is elusive — a slippery devil. I can’t seem to ever catch it,” the actor joked. “There’s somebody else that you have to take care of . . . you don’t think about yourself anymore. But it’s a pleasure to do that — he’s my little dude!”
Indeed, Dallas’ efforts are not going unnoticed by his wife. In September, the actress told Us that her husband made her life as a mom easier. “He also has not slept since mid-May. I’m always telling him, ‘You can sleep,’ but he won’t, he always helps,” Goodwin said. “He’s my knight in shining armor.”
