Kristen Bell has one wish for Mother’s Day every year: to relax.

“Six years ago, my husband asked me what I actually wanted for Mother’s Day — not what I thought a good mom was supposed to say,” Bell, 45, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, May 10, referring to husband Dax Shepard.

The Frozen star continued, “He’d noticed something: Father’s Day has this culturally accepted ‘See you later, I’m golfing’ energy. And nobody questions it. Meanwhile, Mother’s Day comes with runny eggs and soggy pancakes made with so much love you have to smile through every bite. Which is also beautiful! But also … not quite a day off.”

Bell explained that Shepard, 51, told her to close her eyes and picture what she’d want if she could have “anything.”

“I said: spa day with my mom friends, at home (very me), no logistics, no set up, no clean up. ‘Got it,’ he said,” Bell noted. “Reader, he delivered. Every year since. Today, the dads are taking the kids, the masseuse is on her way, and I am horizontal. He even caters this rager to add a little extra love.”

Bell concluded, “Being a mom is the best thing I’ve ever done. Today, my husband made sure the world moms me back. 🤍.”

Along with her caption, the Veronica Mars alum shared a video montage of her spa day with friends, including Nobody Wants This costar Justine Lupe and others. The moms relaxed with pedicures, massages, pastries and fruit.

Shepard and Bell, who tied the knot in 2013, share daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11.

Bell’s sweet Mother’s Day post comes seven months after she caused a stir with her anniversary tribute to her husband.

“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” she wrote at the time.

The post garnered backlash from critics, including the National Network to End Domestic Violence.

“There’s nothing funny about domestic violence ‘jokes’ that trivialize the very real fear, trauma and pain that millions of victims and survivors face each day,” a rep for the non-profit said at the time. “Especially during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we all have a responsibility to support victims and survivors, to invest in proven solutions and to speak about this issue with the seriousness it deserves.”

Shepard broke his silence on the controversy in April.

“I was alerted by someone that this whole thing was happening,” he said on his “Armchair Expert” podcast. “I didn’t know, and Kristen knew through her publicist but didn’t tell me. So, I actually didn’t know, and this was brought to my attention.”

The Zathura actor said he was in the dark about the situation for “a week and a half.”

“I had no clue,” he continued. “Someone comforted me, and I was like, ‘What are you [talking about]?’ And then I had to go to Kristen, like, ‘What are they talking about?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, that post I had.’”
